I didn't watch the 76ers play against the Magic Wednesday night so I can't really comment on this article. However, I was wondering if any Sixers fans and followers believe in what this article is pointing out. Seems to be a bit premature to say these things now since new head coach Eddie Jordan has barely had any time to work with Brand up to this point.
ouch, they tore Brand apart. I think the Sixers definitely made a mistake signing him, and his big-*** contract disallows anyone to dispute that. However, this is hindsight. What is it with Duke players and serious injury problems anyway?

What is it with everyone jumping the gun this year? Cleveland's 0-2 to start, and they're out of the playoffs.
The guy hasn't played in a regular season game since Feb. 3rd, 2008. Then he gets the EC champs, and he's done?
This is just shock press man. Now... if by 2/3/2010 Brand is looking the same or hasn't improved by then my tune may have changed but I think he can still be a dominant 4 in this league.

It's just a bad fit with Jordan's offensive style... he might be able to fit him in, but a guy like Speights is a better fit for that motion offense... Brand is just too much of a lumbering presence at this point in his career. He needs a slow-paced deliberate offense to take advantage of his skills and the 76ers are definitely not that team, especially with Eddie Jordan now. Don't think it's jumping the gun... it's just the reality of the situation as it stands now and would stand regardless of whether they came out the gate 2-0 or not.

There is no jumping the gun here...
The team played it's best ball when he was out for the season.
He was also never healthy... still isn't for that matter.

Brand never did fit at all.
How much do you follow Philly? 76ers and the Wizards are my teams.
So you mean to tell me that in 23 games started last year that Brand is going to come in fit right in with his team?
A team w/ a corps of players: Andre Miller, Igoudala, Dalembert, Willie Green, & Thad Young. Who had all been playing w/ each other for AT LEAST two years. Add to that a different coach this year, than last year.
Of course they're going to play their best ball once Brand was injured last yr because that same group had made the postseason in 2007-08.
They were 13-16 w/ Brand in the lineup. They were starting figure things out right around the time he went down w/ an injury. They could've definitely built on that 13-16 record, and anyone who follows Philly since the days of Iverson knows that a post threat was a huge glaring weakness to this team.
Elton Brand isn't healthy. Injured, out of basketball shape players who haven't played basketball for a year and a half don't fit on any team in the league.
A healthy Elton Brand will help any team he's on.
