Player Position and Rotation Logic?

Hypothetically...

can a starting PF sub out into his second position automatically? Say if his second position was SF and instead of playing as a PF anymore he then goes to be a SF?

What I'm trying to understand is if there is a rule? I am not quite sure...Is starting lineup set in stone? Conversely can you have a starting PF and a bench PF playing on the court at the same time?

You could have 5 centers on the court if you wanted to. The position is only a title anyways.Take the Cavs.. They have had point guards, but LeBron runs the offense most of the time. I have seen Andrei Kirilenko play point guard before when Deron was taking a break.

Ahhh I see. yeah I'm sorta familar with that it was just i needed a refresher. Is it common for this to happen or it it the oddity? Box scores and games this year have been 2 guard 2 forwards and one center mostly...

I know in College that box scores can read something other than
G
G
F
F
C

Example - http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=283160150

Not sure if I have seen that in the NBA

Exactly my friend. this is whats doing my head in right now. after setting up some rotations i saw guys sub in their secondary position automatically.

Ex

Dudley started as a PF in game then when it came time to sub guys out may came in and became the PF and dudley stayed in but now was playing the sf position? i found this odd and am contemplating now just making every players position one position so that they get subbed out for their position and they only sub in for their starting position and NOT their secondary.....

Re: Player Position and Rotation Logic?

Oh are you talking about 2K?

Well this is what I know about 2K.

Defautly, most people have A Primary Position and NONE as secondary Position.

What I usually use is http://www.82games.com/0809/08ATL5C.HTM; If there are only TWO positions that a player has under "Mins %" - If there is a 0% (not the same as NOTHING listed there, I really don't count that as actual playing time)

So Joe Johnson would be; SG/SF because those are the positions he plays.

If there are THREE positions that a perso plays, I would put there second position as NONE. But for SOME reason, we can't make a person's seconary position NONE if there is already a position set. Meaning I can't set it BACK to none, even if it was defaultly set at NONE. Almost the same way 2K accidently didn't allow us to put China, SPain, or a HS back to a player that is from one of those places. Example, if I change Yao's origin to UCLA, I will NOT be able to change it back to China. I don't see how that happened.

But yea back to THREE positions (http://www.82games.com/0809/08ATL4C.HTM), I would have him at SG/NONE because he plays 3 positions.

If a player STARTS at a position, I make that his PRIMARY position. No matter if that isn't his natural position. IE, TMAC - SG. If not the CPU will start to do what they want, even thought they still will. IE........ Rashard should be PF/SF
