Here's the deal:

The pick is lottery protected for 2011 – so the Nets get it if the Warriors are in the playoffs. If it goes to 2012, the pick is protected 1-to-11. It’s protected 1-to-10 for 2013. If it is not conveyed by 2013, the Nets s\get second rounders in 2013 and 2015.

I actually for some reason didn't take into account that 2011 is 3 years off LOL. But still, I think it was even.

Also, like I asked, what makes Williams special?

Re: Official 2008 NBA Offseason Trades/FA Signings Thread

I don't mind the trade at all. The Warriors have been looking for a backup PG this offseason. As far as I'm concerned, the whole issue with Williams dropping in the draft was because of character concerns and conditioning. Well.. I think the Warriors know all about that kind of stuff. He didn't have much of a chance in NJ behind Kidd, and then after they decided to trade for Harris.

The guy definitely came out of UCONN labeled as a 'pure PG'. This move is probably also there to help relieve Monta from all handling duties, which is probably wise.

The Warriors give up a mid to late 1st round pick at best. If that means we're in the playoffs, then I'll be happy to give it away. If not, go crazy with two 2nd rounders in 2013.. The potential return is greater than a mid-late 1st rounder, specially after seeing the Warriors fail at the draft year after year. We probably have found better players in the 2nd round than we have in the 1st in the last 10 years.

Marcus Williams isn't really that good. He's not really a true PG.

His defense is horrible. He's just way too slow for most PGs in the NBA and he doesn't seem to give it his all most nights.

He's a very frustrating player to have on your team because you know what he is capable of.

I do take back my first response though. This was not a steal for NJ. I'd say it was an even deal for both teams.

Seems the Warriors are nowhere near done with roster moves.. It seems they have signed Mo Evans to a 3yr/6.4m deal. Pretty good deal, and cheaper than Azubuike. Both are similar, even their frames. The Warriors seem to be remaking their team. Gone are two captains in Baron and Barnes, along with Pietrus, Azubuike, POB. In come Maggette, Turiaf, Randolph, Hendrix, Williams, and now Evans. The clock has to be ticking for Harrington, and possibly Jackson as well..

The Warriors have until Friday to match the offer, but two NBA sources said they will not because they signed forward Maurice Evans, who split time between the Lakers and Orlando last season, to a three-year, $6.4 million deal.

What a steal for NJ IMO.
If dude can stay in shape. He is arguably the most unathletic point in the entire league. But when he is in shape and healthy, he can DO IT!

From the moves the Warriors have been making, they've added some players with size AND speed for their team.

Seems like Nellie is thru with the SmallBall act but will still keep the run and gun offense in tact.

Re: Official 2008 NBA Offseason Trades/FA Signings Thread

I take back what I said in the last page but what I meant was a ok steal for GS.
Nellie needs to adds defense on that team to complete for the 8th or possibly 7th spot in thee playoffs. they're in the rebuilding stage and lost a pretty valuable defender (azubruike) and gained a pretty good post defender (Turiaf) so they need Defense and Rebounding.

Besides didn't Josh Childress join a team in Greece? like some 3 year deal or something?
