As much as I don't like Kobe, I think the voters got it right.
Why are winning Coach of the Year and MVP mutually exclusive?

Maybe it's just my opinion, but I don't see how a coach can win Coach of the Year, even though they have the best player in the league. To me, the COY award represents doing more with less. You don't know how much I would rather see CP3 win than Kobe, but I think the voters got it right. Maybe CP3 does really deserve it, but maybe the COY award was wrong. They do have 2 All Stars, and a lineup with no glaring weaknesses. Then again, half of the Western Conference is the same way.

Again, just my opinion. Maybe in a year where one team dominates, the same team deserves both, but only Boston could be considered dominant even by stretching the definition.

I don't think it'll be Shaq or KG winning, but I don't think the voting will be as close as the race should have been.

Its nowhere near as close which IMO shows alot of the lifetime achievement talk spilled into the voting.

Re: Kobe Selected as 2008 MVP

If I remember right from seeing it on the screen Kobe got 82 first place votes, Paul received 28, Garnett received 15, and LeBron received 1.
