Re: 2013 Hall of Fame Ballot Discussion

Obviously being a Mariners fan I want Gar to get in... Greatest player to ever play his position (obviously being a DH isn't saying much lol), 34th all time in wRC+, 83rd all time in WAR (which is amazing considering he had no fielding or baserunning value), 48th all time in wOBA and 19th all time in OBP, a career .312 hitter, and 500+ doubles. If a player was the best player at his position for most of his career, how is he not hall worthy? The writers just valued hitting over fielding and baserunning by choosing Cabrera over Trout so hopefully they give the same consideration to Gar.

Wow, a lot of BIG names on the ballot for the first time this year.

This really hinders some guys that have been on for a while.

Only thing i am hoping for is Bonds to get close to getting in this year and hopefully open more votes for next year to get in.

I agree Bonds and Clemens should be in, maybe not first ballot as they would've been as a sort of punishment for PEDS. But I mean so many unanswered questions, suspicions you can't just ignore an entire era of baseball over something that wasn't illegal, enough players were doing it to show it was part of the sports culture as a whole, much like spit balls, pine tar and other things from bygone era's. just my opinion!

Re: 2013 Hall of Fame Ballot Discussion

I think Bagwell just might sneak in this year. I also think Piazza has the best chance out of all the 1st ballot guys. Bonds, Clemens and Sosa will get a nice amount of votes, but probably not enough to get in. Biggio is another interesting guy. He has the career numbers (3,000 hits) and plays a scarce position (2B) but if Sandberg had to wait three years to get in, Biggio should wait at least six.

I'm not big on the "because someone ****ed up in the past we should continue to **** it up in the future" line of thought.

Biggio is a Hall of Famer, vote him in now and be done with it.

No on Bonds, I'm almost inclined to say the same about Clemens but I dunno, maybe he's started to show some humility even if it's a vain attempt to curry favor.

As for others Kenny Lofton should get in at some point and damnit, let's vote in Timmy Raines too!

I'm done politicking for Morris. He'll just have to wait til the Veterans put him in 30 years from now.
