Glove oil

Hi Guys

I dont know if this is the right spot to ask but it does have to do with baseball so I figure it will be okay.

Anyways I received my pro preferred rawlings glove today and was wondering what you guys think is the best oil or leather conditioner to use? I have heard good things about nokona conditioner.

I use to just use easton glove oil on gloves before but dont know if I should use it on this one as It is kind of a expensive glove and I want to make sure im using quality oils on it.

Jeremy

Sorry I couldn't help you, I am using the same old mitt I had as a 15 yr old (30 now); a Rawlings Cal Ripken signature glove. I would like to know more on this too since I will be getting my son (currently 4) a decent glove one day.

Sent from my Droid, most likely when I've been taking a dump.

Re: Glove oil

Lexol is what I use, as recommended to me by the man at the Western store (they sell Cowboy Boots, Saddles, all sorts of leathery things).

Re: Glove oil

I never used oil. I broke my gloves in the old fashioned way. Sticking it under my mattress for a couple of days and then kept playing with it until it naturally happened.

I used the nokona glove conditioner earlier this year, absolutely loved it.

Re: Glove oil

It's been over 20 years since I last broke in a glove, so I am not familiar with the newer conditioners, but back then a lot of the oils (although good for the condition of the leather) could cause the glove to become heavy with repeated use. Had a cousin who played in the majors for several years as an infielder, and he and several of his cohort (again--a long time ago), swore by shaving cream (the foamy kind, not the gel kind) as the way to go...good conditioning effect on the leather, but never weighed the glove down. I used that technique up to the last competitive innings of baseball I played in college.

Re: Glove oil

I've use some Dr. Glove stuff from Hibbett Sports, it was pretty much shaving cream and it work good, I guess.
