2009 Hank Aaron Award winners

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...=.jsp&c_id=mlb

The Hank Aaron Award, given to each league's best hitter, went to Pujols and Mau...Jeter!?

Apparently Major League Baseball thought they didn't have enough crappy ideas, so they let the fans vote for this award.

Obviously this doesn't mean anything in the big scheme of things, but man, if the MLB is going to do something like give an annual award to each league's best hitter and name the award after one of the most beloved hitters in baseball's storied history, you'd think they wouldn't screw it up by letting the fans vote for the winners.

Jeter must have led the AL in batting average though, right? Errr....no, that was Mauer.

Certainly he must have led in on-base percentage then, right?? Uhh...no, again, that was Mauer.

How about slugging??? No, for the final time, that was Mauer as well.

I ****ing hate fans, blissfully ignorant of their....ignorance.

Jeter had a good year but putting the snub on Mauer? Wow...

Yea, I worried that writers will follow suit, but thankfully votes were made prior to the announcement or playoffs.

This is actual footage of me when I found out people thought Derek Jeter was a better hitter this year than Joe Mauer:

If Jeter was totally honest he'd give the award back and say give it to Mauer. That was a travesty of justice. At least the fans got it right with the Pujols pick but even a convention of blind people would get that one right.

Mauer only played 100 or so games.
Jeter has been the best defensive SS of all time, year in and year out and played 170+ games.

You lose.

Er....This award has to do with OFFENSE. So his defensive skills (horribly overrated IMO) has no bearing. Oh and Ozzie Smith may have a lot to say about being best defensive SS of all time. Hell, Tony Fernandez was better then Jeter could ever hope to be.

Try again.
