The Baltimore Orioles release P Rich Hill C Guillermo Rodriguez and OF Jeff Fiorentino

The Chicago White Sox claim OF Alejandro De Aza off waivers from the Florida Marlins*

The Houston Astros claim OF Jason Bourgeois off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers*

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquire 2B Akinori Iwamura from the Tampa Rays for P Jesse Chavez*

The Toronto Blue Jays claim P Sean Henn of waivers from the Baltimore Orioles and claim 2B Jarret Hoffpauir off waivers from the St.Louis Cardinals*

*recap of previous moves this offseason.

Maybe i'm crazy, maybe my memory is faulty, but I don't remember Bourgeois being all that bad a player.

AND I just checked and I knew it. .316 and 36 SBs last year in AAA. 36 SB would be nice for a Brewers team that is god awful at stealing bases as it is.

At 27 (soon to be 28) Bourgeois seems to be a AAAA player, a little too good for the minors but not good enough for the majors. The Astros will be his 4th organization in the last 4 years. One thing with the Astros though is if he can put up a decent spring he could compete for a spot on their bench as they had no speed threats at all of the bench last season.

ESPN is reporting Red Sox acquire OF Jeremy Hermida, for two left handed minor league pitchers.
