Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?

I thought this would be a fun thread idea.
Lets see.

I'll throw out a person who could possibly enter the hall one day, then someone answers, throw in 2 cents or so, then we throw out another. Theres quite a few out there, it should be a fun thing to return to during the offseason.

I'll start it off with.....

Jorge Posada.

Heres a link to his career/postseason numbers.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...osadjo01.shtml

My take: No. I think hes a Yankee classic for sure, but even with the world series wins and a solid career, he'd have to play another 4 years or so and win another WS to even be considered. The numbers just aren't there.

I know this wasn't was stroke your chin player choice to kick off the thread, but the more interesting thought is we the yankees retire his number?.

Yankee catcher legends?
Bill Dickey, Yogi, Butch Wynegar?? Is he up there with them or is he a product of the team he played on and stayed with?

If he's the #1 catcher for two more years and puts up respectable numbers that puts him close to 2000 hits and completes that milestone at DH then yes he'll get in the HOF eventually probably around the last year of eligibility. He will get in not necessarily for his hitting but for his defense and working with pitchers.

He'll have a plaque in Monument Park for sure though.

Posada has never been particularly renowned for his defence or game-calling. If he gets in, it'll absolutely be for his hitting (and his association with the Yankees of this era). I'm pretty sure he'll make the HOF somewhere down the road. BTW, are we talking about WILL he or SHOULD he in this thread?

Well in the last few years i've heard many baseball people give Posada props for his handling of the pitching staff. It may just be hot air but I put it out there in any case.

I agree with you that if he DOES get in it'll mainly because of his status as a Yankees legend.

good point on the will he, should he.

I say, will he?
only if he contiunes solidly for the next 3-4 years.
Should he? then, yes.

Lol good question. I've never even heard of Wynegar. However I do believe when it's said and done Posada earns his trip to the Hall. Good catcher all around, great hitting catcher, more rings then a jewelry store. Of course it will take a few more good years, But eventually he will get in. Make room for Hip Hip Jorge behind the other greats: Dickey, Berra, Munson, Howard, and now Posada. notice: no mention of Wynegar.
