who do you consider the greatest baseball player of your generation

who do you consider the greatest of your generation?? for me it can be summed up with three words Ken Griffey Jr. I grew up in the 1990's and i was a die hard Yankee fan but Junior remained the player I idolized the most. Griffey in his prime was one of if not the best players. He was the definition of a 5 tool talent he had power, speed, scaled walls like he was not human and had a cannon for an arm. Heck if he did not get injured he could have been the greatest player of all time and we could have actually had a clean home run king.

Ken Griffey Jr. is probably my all-time favorite player but Albert Pujols is undoubtedly the best player of the last 20 years or so.

I'd have said Bonds if this was 5-6 years ago but it's probably Griffey Jr. I'm going by guys I grew up watching.

In about 25 years people will call Pujols the greatest of their generation.

Jim Eisenreich

Just kidding.

Even the non-homer in me has to say Barry Bonds, as might many other people that grew up seeing him on Sportscenter night after night.

Griffey on pure talent, but his legacy is hurt by all the injuries.

amended to agree with the above. Pujols is the best.

Pujols is the best hitter. I wrote a blog showing how his numbers, acheived in consecutive years, are unprecedented. That's to be taken literal, not as hype. If he finishes this season healthy, he'll complete the greatest 9 yr run in the history of professional baseball. Bar none.

Griffey, injuries killed his chances of putting up monster, monster numbers. He missed a good 3 years of production due to injuries/the strike.
He'd have 740 homeruns, 2,000+ RBI's, 3,000+ hits, etc. If he didn't miss those years.

I'm praying Pujols stays healthy because he has a chance to have absolutely insane numbers when he is done playing.

I'm a huge Griffey Jr. fan and had he not been injured those 3 years he would be within contention of the all-time home-run record. But, over the last 8 years or so it's easily Pujols.
