So much for Schafer being the CF of the future?

Yep. Looks like Andrew McCutchen will get called up sooner, rather than later for the Pirates.

I'm surprised they made this deal as they've been touting McLouth and Doumit as the cornerstones of the future. Nate was supposed to move to RF or LF with McCutchen playing CF next year. I guess that's not going to happen now.

I don't know much about the return for the Pirates so I can't comment on that.

Re: Nate McLouth to Braves

Yeah, maybe they give Schafer more time in AAA and see if Francoeur has a good year. If Francoeur falters again this year, maybe they move McLouth to right and put Jordan in CF? Who knows...

Not for sure really where to begin on the balance of this trade, but Pittsburgh did receive two of the Braves top 8 prospects, according to Baseball America, in Hernandez (5) and Locke (8). Hernandez has been in AA, while Locke has spent this season in High A and Charlie Morton in AAA.

Re: Nate McLouth to Braves

As a Braves fan, this was a horrible deal.

Edit: for some reason I thought Hanson was in the deal and not Morton. Morton isn't going to be great. Hernandez might turn out to be a good player, but he is not ready and was stuck behind other players.

Charlie Morton is not a top of the rotatin guy...he's a 4 or 5 at best I think. Hernandez could be special, but we had depth in CF with Heyward/Schaefer, so I'm fine giving him up. Not sure how Locke will turn out.

^ Agreed.

@ Rushing, which part of the deal do you think makes it least appealing?

Re: Nate McLouth to Braves

Pittsburgh = MLB's farm team same could be said for Washington. We will probably see Adam Dunn the next to be traded, I know he was signed in the offseason but the Nationals suck.
