Not entirely unexpected.. Pretty decent career I must say.

Re: So long, Mussina

he was good, but he was a tool as well what guy at an all star game gets up by himself and starts throwing in the pen cuz he wants in the game, also complains about not starting a game on time because a team is honoring someone who died, Go to hell Mussina go to hell!!

Well luckily for him, baseball players careers aren't judged to heavily on their personalities..what would the history of baseball be without the ego's of Ruth, Cobb and others.

I think this was pretty much expected.

Thanks for everything Moose!

Hall of Famer. Sorry he didn't get his ring but he was good for us. Best free agent signing of this millennium for the Yankees.

An extremely good career. I don't know if i'd say Hall of Famer (i'll need to look at his numbers in depth) but he was a very steady guy for so long. One of the best pitchers of his generation though that's for sure.

21 pitchers active and retired have a career record of 100 games over .500. Moose is 117 games over .500 for his career. He's in pretty exclusive territory.

Personalities no, but character yes...And you could spin off all of Mussina's transgressions as being a bad character guy.

The All-Star Game was at OPACY that year, and Cito Gaston couldn't even put Moose in for one inning? I see his point.

Anyway, shame to see him go. He'll always be a traitor in my eyes, but still congratulate him on a great career. I didn't get to watch him when he was in an Orioles uniform, but he nearly singlehandedly carried us to the World Series in '97 only for Armando Benitez to screw it up.

Even though he's a traitor, he's still a local guy for me, so I'm still a fan and was glad to see him finally get a 20 win season this year.
