Pedroia wins AL MVP

I would've voted for Mauer.

EDIT: Looking at the votes someone gave Jason Bartlett a 5th place vote.

Re: Pedroia wins AL MVP

I think I would have given my MVP vote to Youk. Just for the simple fact that Youkilis provided such flexibility in the infield with him being able to play spot on defense at both corners. And the ability to move him around the lineup and still be very effective.

It's still awesome to see Dustin get the award. He had an awesome year and did a great job in carrying the offense at some points throughout the year. I'd love to see Peter Gammons inbox on his cell phone to see what kind of text messages DP is sending him right now lol

Well deserved.

Personally, if Quentin stayed healthy I woulda gave it to him easily, but considering the fact that he only played 130 games you just can't give it to him.

I would have gone...

1. Mauer
2. Pedroia
3. Youkilis
4. Morneau

(I don't have any issues with Pedroia winning though)

KRod received a first place vote, imagine that.

Not a bad decision imo, there were quite a few players with similar level arguments.

Re: Pedroia wins AL MVP

It was a wide open AL. I also have no problem with Pedroia winning.

He was the top offensive 2B in the American League and he put up numbers that a normal 2B should not put up.

For his spot in the lineup, his production was outstanding, and the only stat he didn't really have over anyone was homeruns. When you also consider that he hit 17 homeruns to Mauer's 9 and still only hit .002 lower than him, I think that's worth noting.

Now if Quentin didn't get votes because he only played 130 games, that's just a bunch of crap. 130 games is still a lot of games. You can't fault someone for missing 30 games in the season.

Number of games played is part of the criteria though, and Pedroia played 157 games this season. Not having to find a replacement for 30+ games is part of the value he provided.

Yea, I won't argue this. It's a valid point.
