Re: Cubs acquire Gregg

Is this a stop-gap measure if Wood doesn't resign? Is he going to be the set-up man to Wood? Or is this move signifying the Cubs desire to part ways w/ Wood?

This one is interesting. So who becomes the closer in Florida now? Tankersly?

GM Jim Hendry says the Cubs will part ways with lifetime Cub Kerry Wood.

Jose Ceda is the Cubs best reliever in their farm system. He throws 95+ with good breaking stuff. He started in Class A last year and almost made the squad in spring training.

I'd say the Marlins know what they are doing.

It doesn't matter what Florida does, they are going to win the world series this year.

Re: Cubs acquire Gregg

Ceda is a quality prospect. I think the Cubs got the better end of the deal. But the Marlins didn't get ripped off by any means. Supposedly Ceda was the closer of the future in Chicago.

Not a smart move IMO and I'm not a fan of the Gregg trade one bit since Ceda was involved.
