Longoria, Soto MLB Rookies of the Year

As expected by a majority of fans and media members, Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria and Chicago Cubs C Geovany Soto are winners of the 2008 Rookie of the Year Award.

Longoria was the unanimous winner for the AL, beating out 2B Alexei Ramirez of the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox CF Jacoby Ellsbury.

Soto received 31 of 32 first place votes for the NL. Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto received the other first place vote.

In July, Soto became the first National League catcher to start an All-Star game.

The funniest thing is non rookie pitcher Edinson Volquez got some ROTY votes to finish in 4th place(NL).

Can't really argue with the choices. I might've gone Volquez or Jurrjens over Soto, but he still deserves it.

And no votes for Adam Jones in the AL? SRSLY?

Votes for the Rookie of the Year typically go to, well, rookies.

Volquez isn't a rookie either.

You would have had a pretty decent Sophomore of the Year ballot though.
