Verizon FIOS will carry MLB TV and MLB EI

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP)—Major League Baseball reached an agreement with Verizon to carry the MLB Network on FiOS, expanding the channel’s launch to 50 million homes.

FiOS, available in more than eight million households in 14 states, will also carry the out-of-market Extra Innings package, MLB said Monday.

The MLB Network is set to launch Jan. 1. It will carry news, highlights and taped programming, and likely will have a live game either on Thursday or Saturday nights.

Good news for anyone with FiOS or for those people looking to switch.

I'm looking forward to the MLB Network. I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a new station.

Fantastic news. It's about the only thing I missed when I switched from Comcast.

Al Leiter is also on the network. I liked his commentary when he did some work for FOX. I haven't seen his YES stuff though.

It looks like Cox in my area is carrying it. I just noticed the channel tonight, they are actually showing a documentary about the Red Sox right now with a crawler at the bottom saying the channel will go fulltime on Jan 1.

Wiki is your friend: 213

BTW if you guys want to see something amazing what the network on its launch date (Jan 1) as they're showing the full broadcast of Larsen's perfect game. It will be shown throughout the month as well.

Also Jan. 11th looks great as well as they'll be showing a couple games from the '89 ALCS where Rickey Henderson killed the Jays and the famous 22-21 Phils/Cubs game from '78 I think.
