Baseball Cards

Does anyone out there collect baseball cards? Does anyone know what the value is of a SP Prospects 04 Dustin Pedroia/Andrew Dobies draft duo autographed card out of 175 is worth?

Re: Baseball Cards

You can check here, if you place your mouse over "This card only" then you can buy pricing information for only this card for 0.60. Let me know if that helps at all....

Re: Baseball Cards

I went to check it out and sign up but once you click on the "this card only" it directs you to register and you have to buy the "points" in bundles. It costs so many points to look at a cards price. The lowest bundle is 6 bucks, i don't really want to pay 6 dollars to look up one card. Hopefully someone who has a beckett can answer my question or i'll just try to look at one next time i'm at the store. Thanks though.

Re: Baseball Cards

Weird, it says points or 0.50 so Im not sure why its giving you that problem. Let me look, I dont have the online subscription, but are you sure you are clicking on "this card only"? 6.00 is the monthly subscription rate for the Baseball Beckett online, so you might have clicked on the wrong one I guess.

EDIT- I just checked and your right, really silly if you ask me but they are trying to milk you for anything they can get, Goozex does the same thing so you are forced to buy points that you dont need, its irritating. They used to show you the value of your "collection" so you would just add one card to your collection and the total would be the value of that one card added so you could get around buying a guide but they apparently changed it since I tried this earlier and it didnt work anymore. Just check at the store I guess, I tried to use ebay as a barometer and that didnt yield any results either so other then looking at the store Im not sure where else to check right now.

Re: Baseball Cards

I found that his solo auto card is worth 160.00 if that gives you any idea, I know it doesnt help a ton but atleast you know that it shouldnt be any lower then that obviously since that one had a print run of 400 and yours was only a run of 175.

Thanks for looking into this. I was just going through the small amount of cards i have with me, most are still at my parents house. I came across this box of sp prospects i bought about 3 yrs ago and came across this card and figure it's got to be worth a decent amount since it's out of 175.
I'm not too sure on the newer cards though since there's so many of them these days. I used to be able to tell you the price of every single baseball card when i collected as a kid. I stopped around 93 when things just started getting watered down and too expensive to collect. I'm so glad i held onto those Mcgwire, bonds, clemens, and canseco rc's so i can sell them and retire on them and their skyrocketing value. They didn't exactly "shoot up" in value like i hoped they would.

Re: Baseball Cards

Yeah, I did the same and the moment the card companies started making the entire industry about the autographed card then they refused to move and remained the same value for good. I hate it, now its not good enough to have a Kevin Durant RC unless its signed, or its some chase card thats tough to find, companies now flood the market with the set based RC and thus drive the value into the toilet, it didnt use to be that way but it is now.

I went through a period of time last year where I was starting to get back into it again, buying boxes and cases of things like Basketball SP Game Used but I kept walking away with garbage, auto's of Duhon (x2), auto of David Noel etc, the value just wasnt there. In all the boxes I bought the best I pulled was a decent Jordan Jersey card (which these type of cards have dropped in value as well thanks to the chase for auto's now) and a auto Chris Paul card that I sold, other then that it was a bunch of filler crap that was barely worth what I paid for the box. When you see a box of 2007/08 Upper Deck Ultimate for 313.99 and its only 4 packs, at an average of nearly 80.00 per pack, its an insane market for card collectors anymore. If you ever feel like checking out some of the new product, use this website, they have the best prices Ive seen and the shipping is fair...

EDIT- These are really nice but at 179.99 for one pack, I would say its a bit expensive...

Re: Baseball Cards

I used to be big into collecting - usually sets (Topps) back in the late 80's early 90's.. I have to laugh though because my parents made a mistake and bought me football cards one year --- ended up with a nice set (Jerry Rice rookie card, and several others).

I almost purchased the huge '09 edition of the Standard Cataloge book ($44), that comes with a DVD - still might

Re: Baseball Cards

I found a beckett and the value was 50. I have no idea about the grading. Another thing that went wrong with cards. Pretty disappointing. I figured an auto rookie of Pedroia out of 175 would be more valuable. Oh well.
