Nice win! One question, if you don't mind.

With a name like yours...why not an Inter dynasty?

Playing with Inter really is not that much fun for me. They are a team who is already setup plyer wise, and youth wise for that matter. Personally, I like the challenge of having to build a squad from the ground up.

Last Minute Heartbreak For Middlesbrough; Rodwell and Jovetic Deals Completed

Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough-
After their first win of the season, the Middlesbrough players came into this game with buckets full of confidence, and it showed. They came storming out of the gates, controlling a staggering 58% of the possession in the first half. It didn't take long for them to find the net either. In the 6th minute Tuncay checked in to receive the ball from Digard who played it from about half field. Tuncay used his body to shield off his defender, allowing some time for Afonso Alves to make a dashing run into the box. Tuncay played the ball through to him but his shot, which was destined for the left corner, was saved by Gordon. However, Tuncay continued his run and slotted away the rebound. "As I said last week, Tuncay has a terrific nose for goal. Whether it be the beautiful chip from last game or a garbage rebound goal such as today, it doesn't matter. He's always in the mix" said Marad. Sunderland, who had begun the season with two successive draws, would not go quietly. In the 27th minute Djibril Cisse controlled the ball 10 yards outside Middlesbrough's box. He pushed the ball to his right, then suddenly cut back to the left creating just enough space between himself and Huth for a shot. Turnbull got a hand to it, but his effort was not enough as the ball sailed into the left side netting.

Neither team dominated the run of play in the second half, as chances were few and far between. In the 75th minute, Middlesbrough got their best chance to take the lead. Tuncay played a wonderful ball across the field to Emnes on the right wing who proceeded to play it back into the middle to Digard. He one touched it to Tuncay who dribbled around McShane and found himself alone in the box, but his shot was saved. Terror came in the 90th minute of play when Wheater took down Cisse in the box. Richardson stepped up and blasted the penalty kick of the left post into the back of the net. "It's a tough way to loose. We came out strong but didn't finish strong. Yet again inconsistent play killed us. But we must get passed this. There is alot of football left to play" said the manager.

Transfer News
On the last day of the transfer window Middlesbrough made moves on all fronts. They sold striker Marlon King to Portsmouth for a reported $3,708,000 and defender Chris Riggot to Istanbul BB for $560,000. They also completed the purchases of 17 year-old defensive midfielder Jack Rodwell from Everton for $870,000 and 18 year-old forward Stevan Jovetic from Serie A side Fiorentina for $4,050,000. The full details of these transfers have not been released yet, but we are expecting an announcement from the club rather shortly. When this announcement comes The Sun will have full details plus both player and coach reactions.

Boro Officially Announce New Signings; Marad Comments

Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough- Middlesbrough has finally announced the details of their two newest signings, Jack Rodwell and Stevan Jovetic. Here are the details that were announced by Boro management at a press conference earlier today.

Jack Rodwell:
17 year-old, defensive midfielder from Everton. $870,000 transfer fee. Match salary of $25,160 for 5 years.

Stevan Jovetic:
18 year-old forward for Fiorentina. $4,050,000 transfer fee. Match salary of $22,000 for 3 years.

The Sun's reporter Andrew Jones had rights to an exclusive interview with manager Jason Marad.

Jones: First off, in terms of importance, how high were these players on your transfer list.

Marad: In terms of importance? Well any player you are willing to pay a substantial amount of money for and give guaranteed money to for up to five years is usually topping your priority list. Coming into this transfer window, I was really looking for youth. Buying older players, especially for a smaller club like us, really is not worth the investment. Buying younger players, having them develop, then either keeping them or selling them for a profit is always the best road to take. By position, I was looking for a goalkeeper, a central midfielder, and another attacking option in addition to Alves and Tuncay. From the start I wanted Rodwell, period. After discussions with a few other teams, we were going no where in terms of acquiring a forward. One of my scouts informed me on Jovetic, so I went to check him out. The rest is history. Obviously we weren't able to get goalkeeper, but my other two wishes were fulfilled.

Jones: Speaking of central midfielders, it was reported that you showed extensive interest in Gremio's Douglas Costa.

Marad: This is true. Costa is a terrific player, and we felt pairing him with Rodwell in the middle would give us a force for years to come. However, a deal could not be worked out. Costa wanted more per match then we were willing to pay him. However, I have not ruled out picking him up when I get the chance again.

Jones: When you were first signed on with Boro you stated that you were only interested in signing players who fit your "system". How do these players do just that?

Marad: Rodwell is a perfect match for the way I am looking to play. He is a strong, aggressive, stay at home midfielder who is not afraid of contact. When playing counter attacking style football, a rock in the middle of the field is a must. As for Jovetic, his pure speed and terrific finishing are what attracted me to him. He can get by defenders, and does not need too many chances to put one in the back of the net. They are both also terrific passers of the ball.

Jones: Finally, how will these two new signings fit into the starting eleven? Will they indeed be starting players?

Marad: (Slight grin) Well, you'll just have to wait until Sunday to see.

Since I have never been good with photo editing or anything related to that, I have a few questions. First, why does the photo above resize to full length and width even though I sized it down in my post? Also, maybe I could get some help with HTML. Specifically a table for standings and statistics with a picture as a header. (i.e. Premier League banner such as the one found here). Thanks for your help. I think I'm going to post this question in the HTML thread, just thought I'd put it here also.

Jovetic and Rodwell Make Debut As Boro Pick Up Win

The Hawthorns, West Bromwich- After their most recent loss to Sunderland, Middlesbrough manager Jason Marad did not wait too long to make some changes. "To be honest, I was just looking to freshen up the team. That last loss was really a stunner, and tough to take. So I'd thought I would plug in some guys who weren't directly involved with that loss. Less chance of a player carrying that previous 'baggage' with them if they weren't on the pitch for the match" said Marad. Up front, the team's leading scorer, Tuncay, was removed to make room for new signing Stevan Jovetic. In the center of the midfield, Marad made two changes, one of which was surprising. Jack Rodwell replaced Didier Digard, which was expected. To the right of him, Julio Arca, the 26 year-old Argentinian, replaced Gary O'Neil. "Tuncay gives us a terrific scoring option off the bench. I do plan on rotating all three players as all of them have the ability to start. Arca has been doing well in training, and I felt his creativity would be a terrific balance with Rodwell" explained the manager.

The changes seemed to work beautifully as Middlesbrough came out moving the ball around the pitch with ease. Their first chance came in the 20th minute as newly appointed captain Scott Downing made a run down the left side of the field and crossed it into the box. His cross found Jovetic's head who placed the ball back-post to an oncoming Afonso Alves. However, Alves shot was directed right at the keeper. "I really should of put that one away. Without a doubt" said Alves. A mere 8 minutes later a corner from Downing which found the head of Arca just saild over the net. Then at the 30 minute mark, Huth won the ball at midfield and played Afonso Alves a terrific thru ball. Alves found himself all alone in the box and slotted the ball away with the outside of his right foot into the left corner. West Brom were nearly non existent on the offensive end.

The second half did not provide as much action offensively for Middlesbrough, as most of the play occurred in the midfield. However, in the 70th minute Jovetic showed just what a deadly striker he actually is as his shot from the top of the box rocketed back off the cross bar. Marad finished his comments with this, "I am happy with today's performance. Especially the way we bounced back from last week. The integration of these 3 new players into the starting eleven was smooth. As I said, I shall continue to rotate the 3 strikers. Also, for now, our midfield shall stay the same."

Middlesbrough now welcome Newcastle to Riverside as they will play the first leg of the second round of the Carling Cup. Newcastle's current form is as follows: D-L-D-L

Starting IX:

West Brpom (4-3-3):
S. Carson; G. Zuiverloon, J. Olsson, A. Meite, P. Robinson; Borja Valero, J. Greening, R. Koren; J. Morrison, J. Simpson, C. Brunt

Middlesbrough (4-4-2):

R. Turnball; J. Hoyte, R.Huth, D. Wheater, E. Pogatetz; M. Emnes, J. Rodwell, J. Arca, S Downing; Afonso Alves, S. Jovetic
