Toulouse Finally Gets a W

TOULOUSE - It was a long time coming, but Toulouse finally got a win.

It was a team effort, with goals scored by three different players (Capoue, Larsen, and Bonnet) that gave the win to the Violets.

Soren Larsen.jpg
Soren Larsen's key goal put the Violets out in front for good.

"We really needed that one." Soren Larsen said afterwards. "Hopefully, this will give us some momentum as we play the 2nd leg on Wednesday."

TFC will play Valenciennes in the 2nd leg of their first round game in the Coupe De La Ligue. They fell in the first leg 3-2 at home. "We have our backs against the wall, if we want to advance. It will be a hostile crowd, we just need to score early to put us at level pegging, and hopefully that will silence their supporters." Manager Casanova said.

Ousted. Draw not good enough for Toulouse to Advance

VALENCIENNES - An early goal by Moussa Sissoko wasn't enough, as Toulouse was knocked out of the Coupe De La Ligue earlier today, by tyinig Valenciennes 1-1, and falling by a count of 4-3 aggregate.

Moussa Sissoko celebrates after an early first half goal.

Manager Alain Casanova spoke to the press afterward, "You have to hand it to Valenciennes they played better over these two games and they deserve to move on." Valenciennes will play Bordeaux next in the second round.

"Now we can focus all of our energies for League play, and look to put our slow start behind us, by stringing some wins together." Moussa Sissoko said.

gah, sorry for the no advancement - but now TFC can focus on just Ligue 1.

How's Tyreek doing? Score any goals yet?

The Lowly Violets Get Blown Out

TOULOUSE - Week Six wasn't kind to TFC, in fact they suffered their worse loss of the year. Sochaux-Montebeliard laid the hammer down 5-1, and showed the league how vulnerable TFC truly is, that is if anyone didn't already realize it.

Meanwhile, American Import, Tyreek Green did receive some good news, in that he was promoted to Inter Squad A. Which means he is a step closer of making the bench. He showed moments of brilliance this week in the practice session by scoring his first goal ever on the practice field. "It wasn't in a real game yet, but it felt good to hit the ball in the back of the net." Green said.

Set to make the bench?.jpg

It would be nice to see Green get some time on the pitch. At least it may bring some supporters to see how the kid does. Because the way the team is playing this year, many fans have already withdrew their support.

Winning is overrated anyways.

A Draw is Better than a Loss

HAVRE - "At least we got something out of it." Manager Alain Casanova said.

Not sure how the board of directors will take a statement like that. Oh well. Perhaps TFC can play the role of spoiler.

The biggest surprise 7 weeks in is the dreadful performances by Andre-Pierre Gignac. Considered by nearly everyone as the best striker on the team, he has yet to make an impact at all. No goals and no assists.

Tyreek Green continues to plow forward in practice by looking to pass before he looks to shoot. We will see if the philosophy will help him make his pro debut in the coming weeks. One thing he needs more now now than ever before is consistency if he hopes to find a spot on the bench.

In a battle of bottomfeeders, TFC hopes to win on the road next week in Grenoble. Grenoble 38 is winless so far on the year.

I started out having it balanced (2 blocks each attribute), then for about three practice sessions I maxed it out on his dribbling and shooting techniques. But, I read somewhere that it's better to have it balanced during the first few years, then you can max it out for whatever you want. So because of that, I have it balanced again.

TFC Nips Hapless Grenoble

Grenoble - It wasn't pretty, but TFC got the job done. Andre-Pierre Gignac finally scored a goal after a 7 week slump.

"It felt great!" Gignac said. "I kicked the ball flush, and I soon as I touched it, I knew I was going to score." When asked why he hasn't delivered as expected up to this point in the season he said, "Football is a mental game, I would say 75% mental. I wasn't confident, and I began to doubt my team mates and my own abilites. This goal is a step in the right direction."

Gignac1.jpg
Gignac Slilences the Grenoble Supporters and for this week his critics also.

Toulouse had better get their game face on in a hurry, because they will play Marseille next week who right now is 4th in the standings. "It will be a big game for us" Alain Casanova said, "It will show us if we have made progress, we have yet to win a game at home, Hopefully we can shut the mouths of all you guys with a win."
