TFC Falls Short in 1st Leg

TOULOUSE - In a close contest TFC could not get the job done, as they lost the first leg of the opening round in the Coupe De La Ligue. TFC fell behind 3-1 near the beginning of the 2nd Half, and made a valiant effort in the last twenty minutes of the match to come back before ultimately falling short 3-2. One bright spot for the Violets included Midfielder Pantxi Sirieix who played an exceptional all-around game and his second half goal really pushed the team to a near comeback. But, now the squad has their work cut out for them as they are now a goal down, and will have to put up some goals on the road in order to make it to second round.

Mohamed Fofana will be suspended in next week's league match, due to the red card he received earlier in the week against Saint-Etienne. TFC will have to have someone else step up on the defensive end to slow down Le Mans.

Thanks man, it is real time consuming, but it is a labor of love. I will be on in a little while.

Toulouse still without a Goal in League Play

LE MANS - There was good news and bad news in Le Mans on Saturday afternoon.

The good? Toulouse was able to get a point in the league standings.

The bad? They were without a goal for the third game in League play.

"This is not how we pictured our season to start." Andre-Pierre Gignac said in the locker room. "It's disappointing to not get the win, but with one of our key defenders out today I think we can be pleased going back home with a point."

Perhaps Manager Alain Casanova needs to shake up the lineup to get something started. There were some rumblings among some of the Violet supporters to pull the trigger and put in the young American prodigy, Tyreek Green.

Green has performed admirably in practice, although he has yet to score a goal he has shown a maturity beyond his years. By allowing the game to come to him, and not force any wild attempts to try and impress his fellow team mates or the coaching staff.

When asked about it Green said, "I may be young, but I am not stupid. Why try to force it, when you have supporters that are coming from the back?" If Toulouse continues to suffer with offensive production, perhaps Green will get his shot.

Next week, Toulouse has a huge game against rival Bordeaux who also has struggled in the young season. A press conference is scheduled so players and coaches can address members of the media, about what they need do to get their first win.

LIGUE 1: WEEK 4 PREVIEW / 2008-09

Bring the Pain

TOULOUSE - The Violets are looking forward to their showdown with bitter rival Bordeaux this Saturday. They look to put up their first win on hostile ground.

Didot Press Confence.jpg

"It's always a blood bath when we get together." TFC Midfielder, Etienne Didot said. "If it is not broken bones, it's dislocations, if not dislocations, blood, if not blood, it's bruises, if not bruises, then you should be off the pitch."

Both teams have not played up to expectations early on this year, it will be interesting to see what happens. The Pundits are predicting a 2 goal win by Bordeaux.

Underachieving Violets are Pummeled Once Again

BORDEAUX - The seat underneath Manager Alain Casanova is starting to get a little warm.

The Violets were outclassed on every level as they were shutout by Bordeaux 2-Nil. "In order to win, you need to score goals. And we haven't done that all month. We have gone 0 for August." Casanova said.

In other news, Tyreek Green continues to shine on the practice pitch. Earlier in the week, he had two shots on goal, both on target and one of those was an aggressive explosive move that took the Goalkeeper Carrasso by surprise. "I went to gather the ball, and before you knew it, Tyreek came sliding in and nearly scored." Green has played strong recently by posting an overall 6.5 rating in his last three sessions.
