If im not mistaken..isnt the license deal up now? Why doesnt 2k make a college game?

Cost of production would be too high to make a college game by itself. Now when 2k is ever allowed to make an NFL game again, don't be surprised if a college game follows due to the fact that they could share much of the same development costs and technology.

2k stopped making their college football game as it didn't sell very well(and wasn't very good). If EA didn't make Madden as well, EA's NCAA FB game probably wouldn't be around either.

Yeah college football(college sports in general) games aren't profitable enough for 2k to produce one.

Not enough money to be made in college football games to justify the cost of production (especially with an entrenched competitor already in the market). You have to be able to produce an NFL game in order to have a chance of making back your expenses.

They would have to sell a million copies their first year just to break even. And over 500k every year after that just to make a profit.

Considering they don't have a football development team, they first would have to hire a whole team, no less then 20 people.

Buy all the dev kits......

Buy all the software.......Keep in mind just ONE program cost over $2,000 for ONE PC. And you typically use 3 or 4 programs when making a video game.

They would have to get a contract with all 120 schools.

Get a contract with all uniform makers.

Get the usage rights to school fight songs and chants......

All in all they easily can spend a million dollars right there just hiring people, getting contracts and equipment.

Even in they started today, it would take them no less then 2 years to get a game out. Considering they have to start from scratch.

And truth be told.....2K NEVER made a good college football game in their lives.

Depends entirely on how much it costs them to make it, pay employees, etc.
