I was curious if there were any free and legal college basketball games?

College Hoops 2k8 is by no means free, but you could definitely search your local Gamestop for a used copy. They are usually under $10 if you find one. There are updated 2011-2012 rosters here for both XBOX and PS3 that you could use to start your legacy.

The problem is the closest gamestop that has the game is an hour away.

i know that feel. id pretty much given up on ever gettin it. then a day after the season ended i randomly checked and the store closest to me had just gotten a copy.

Hey buddy, it's not free but if you like the "managing a team" aspect at all I strongly suggest you check out Fast Break College Basketball. It's kind of a niche game being a text sim and all, but it is the best basketball game ever, in my opinion.
