It may be a while before I gave $80+ disposable on this, but I certainly will be getting it at some point. I'm impressed immensely.
I just started playing this series of games a couple of months ago. No other baseball game comes close. I have bought all games from 5 Kanzenban up to 2012 and think they all are great. If you want to get a look at what the graphics look like on 2012 try to buy 2011 used first to see if you like the gameplay. It looks about 85% of what you will see in 2012. I play all of them now you might find the enlarged strike zone on 2012 a problem maybe not.

How many walks do teams average per game over there? Sorry, I know nothing about international baseball. So I honestly have no idea if walks occur in the general 3 for every 9 inning ratio or not.
NPB teams basically allow 2-3 walks per game; as long as you're patient the game replicates this very well. And it's a "paint the corners" league which is something you'll have to get used to with the game. According to an article "The history of Japanese baseball":

Pitching velocities also generally are slower than MLB, but pitchers counter with a wide array of off-speed pitches, tending to nip the corners of the strike zone, and rarely throw inside.

Re: Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2012 Thread

Hey everyone, we just released the Draft & Free Agency Translations. Thought I'd also include links to other stuff we've done for 2012 in case you haven't been following our website.

Many hard-core players feel PYS 12 is the most solid ever in the series (and the most challenging.) And the Vita version is crazy good, so now is a great time to get in the game. For newcomers who are on the fence and don't want to invest $100 for 2012, I recommend PYS 2010 which is also top notch and can be now found at a good price.

1. 2012 BASIC UPDATE. Here are the basics you need to get started:

http://www.spiritstranslation.com/2012_update.html

2. CHANGES TO PENNANT:

http://www.spiritstranslation.com/20...nt_update.html

3. ABBREVIATED SPECIAL SKILL IMAGES are complete and added to the pitchers page. Hitters were already done so this completes the project. Abbreviated skills are what's shown live in a game, while full special skills text are shown in player attribute pages. Thus, it's good to know both.

http://www.spiritstranslation.com/sp.../pitchers.html

4. FLASHCARDS. Study the key text you need to know in order to enjoy PYS at it's fullest. Our first student scored 1% so this class needs to do their homework.

http://www.flashcardexchange.com/user/view/318529

- Click on a card set towards the bottom of the page, it will take you to a page describing the set.
- Now click 'Study' and follow the directions.
- Optional - click 'Navigation' button during study for options such as shuffle cards etc.

5. 2012 SEASON SIM RESULTS:

Here's a season simmed out. Stats are ranked in the brown highlighted area. The first the Fighters beat Dragons in the series...

http://www.spiritstranslation.com/sim_results_1.html

6. Analysis of CPU Pitch Difficulty Setting 2012:

Due to the high strike zone I got some requests to update this page (originally done in 2010.) I think this page provides a clear picture of how 2012 rolls. Get a cup of coffee for this one...

I did get into the NPB and follow the BayStars and both leagues. I follow through japanball.com for news and scores. I check the NPB official site for player stats and other stuff, and I occasionally catch a streaming game on Justin.tv or where available. I really like their playing style where they sacrifice personal stats for the better of the team. I follow NPB as much as I do MLB, they do have a great product.....IMO.

And I actually apply this to my manager online team in the video game....I try to get the players I like to be on my team and "awaken" them (develop them to full potential)

Since Justin TV supposedly violated the TOS they are off the air. No place else to watch online as far as I can find.

When did this happen? I just watched a game about a week ago, maybe a week and a half. Oh well, I guess I'll have to find other venues...if you look hard enough you will find some streams. If I find anything I will post for everyone's benefit.

I don't know where you got this info, but after posting my last reply and went straight into Jtv on my iPad and found several live streams of NPB games. Maybe there is some penalty pending? Or, some miscommunication?....whatever happened, there're still streaming.
