Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

I like taking out the opposing pitcher when he's batting. Whole new stratgey in the NL.

The only big gameplay problem I have is pick-offs/trying to throw out stealers. It looks like you only get one attempt per inning! Hard to keep them close to the base with that. I was especially displeased when they went when I wasn't allowed to throw over. Seems like you need to use turbo to throw them out unless your catcher has a legendary arm.

Another small thing is not being able to turn the ball trail off. I like the rainbow thing on normal HRs and the firestreak on the big ones but on normal hits I don't like it.

Too bad rosters reset when entering season,I wanted to make the Indians from Major League and you don't really get enough points or are able to set things to legendary.

For those wanting an attempt at sim play with 2 crappy teams. I had great game with the Pirates and Nationals.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

Single player impressions from myself:

Honestly one of the biggest reasons I purchased this game was to play online against a friend. But, I am already in Season 2 of the single player in the Legend mode for the BIGS 2. I am quite surprised at how fresh the single player experience is in the baseball game. 2k just doesn’t make you play every team over and over, they add some interesting twists.

In Legendary mode you start out in a Mexican league after suffering a close to career ending injury. After you play a couple of games you are accepted back into “The Bigs” and get to select what professional team you want to play with. Throughout your experience you get to travel across the United States and play different baseball teams. Different games have different objectives, one game you might need to hit a home run with your player to advance, and in another game you might have to get a hit and steal a base to advance. It is definitely not the same experience every time, as you are not only expected to win every game, but you need to improve your player by doing something specific in the game. The last game of each series is actually really neat. If you win the game you get to steal a player and add them to your roster. (Only three stolen players are allowed to play with your team at one time)

Aside from playing the games there are also mini-games which can be interesting. One of the mini-games is an obstacle course that you need to run through to get better speed for your legend. They also have a hitting mini game and a catching mini-game that can really help with your catching in the game.

If all of that is not enough for you, you are in luck! Eventually you will unlock “Cooperstown” and you will be able to face some of the best players the MLB has ever seen. I have not tried this yet because I want to make my legend very good before I enter the ring with proven MLB stars.

Overall the single player experience is extremely fun, and like I explained there are a ton of things that make the single player experience feel fresh.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

is hitting success solely determined by timing? i know you can aim direction using the left analog, but that seems to be direction of where you want the ball to go, not where you want to swing the bat.

1 pickoff per inning is fair because if you hit the meter at the right time its a guaranteed out

I own a PS3 and The Show and let me tell you this is a great change of pace from The Show. It's a fun game plain and simple, I would definitely advise you to at least rent it.

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread

I'm playing pick-up games right now. I suggest you guys try it out, it's really fun.

Basically you start out with two people for each position and take turns picking players. It's really fun.
