If you're a Vet, check your messages. For those who are not, check your messages tomorrow for possible draft times.

Hey Jerzey,

2 questions....

1) Is this a fantasy draft league or are you guys using real team rosters ?

2) How many games are you guys looking to play per week ? (I want to gauge if I'd have enough time to play....if it's not too late of course ? I'm thinking it might be too many games per week for me to keep up ?

We will be a 'real roster' league. And right now we're looking at 3-5 games per week (48-72 hour advance per week depending on the situation).

Oh ok...thanks. I wouldn't be able to accommodate that many games per week. Especially at 12 min quarters. Either way. The league looks like it has some solid guys in it.

Re: Inside The OSL: General League Discussion

League Update

I'm still waiting back from a couple of Vets. I pushed the idea of capping the league at 22 or so -- the only way the other 8 get filled immediately are through vets of OS.

This week has been controlled chaos so to speak because I wanted to see who was going to be active -- just through that small delay we could cut about 2-3 guys off making 'one league' more of a possibility. The guys who are constantly on the forum will probably get in first -- forum activity and completely 'disappearing' is what us vets fear -- just that activity alone allows us to assume you'll be here for the long haul. And I am more content with doing this after seeing a few 'new' guys added into the OS Vets football league I play in. What the OS Vets basketball league has is something I hope to build into.

With that said, we probably won't be expanding to the full 30 -- probably will let a vet in but not a new unproven member just yet. If our 'new' guy list expands to 10 or more we'll look into the OSDL.

But this is just all speculation -- this is all just in my 'perfect' world to help build the best OA on OS.

Thoughts?

Re: Inside The OSL: General League Discussion

I think its a good idea @jerzeyreign. I think the indicator of if a guy is going to be active is fair as well. Ive joined a league or two through os that ported me to another site and thats exactly what they look for as well. Activity on the site. So thats right on par.

The osdl is cool. Quick question about the osdl, if your in the osdl and a Vet for whatever reason has to bow out so to speak, would you swap with a member from OSDL?

Re: Inside The OSL: General League Discussion

Good post, just to add a few nuggets:
I think you could easily get (if you dont already have it) a core of about 22 sim, committed guys. However, ultimately the goal should be to fill all 30 teams in the league. Since this is an OA, and I would guess that most here would like to play against humans, and not the CPU. I completely understand your concern of guys dropping out, but if someone is willing to play 2-3 different "vets" in tryout games, and is sim, chances are this person wouldn't split over nothing. Even if people do leave here and there, this is what happens being a GM. GM's get hired, fired, or quit, and new GMs inherit those teams to try and turn things around. So, I think, with the right people of course, expanding to a full 30 owners should be the goal.

People stick around in leagues when it is active, sim, and full/almost full. Having an OSDL with about 10 or less human owners probably wouldn't stick around very long, as people would leave having no one but the CPU to play against.

As for checking for activity levels, I agree, but I would add that you make it manditory for everyone to log into the PS3 chat whenever they're online, even if they're playing another game. Shouldn't hurt if you're on PSN anyways. This is another way to determine activity levels. That in turn would make scheduling games much easier, instead of just relying on logging into this forum to check to see if your forum post has been replied to or not.

My 2 cents

I like it, but I am a fan of the OSDL for the new guys, just me though.
