I've really been hearing a lot of great things about NHL 13 and to be honest I haven't had an NHL game since the first NHL 94. But, I may be getting one soon seeing all of the great things said about them.
However, I still think NBA 2k13 will take the cake.

Really hard to say since Madden 13 has only been out 2 weeks, NHL 13 just released on Tuesday and we're still waiting for NBA 2K13, FIFA 13 and WWE 13.

Based on games that have been out for at least a month, MLB 12 The Show is hands-down the GOTY. NCAA 13 deserves some props, though. It takes a lot of flak here but I thought the game was a solid effort and barring a major fix to CCM via a patch, I'll be playing NCAA more than Madden this year.

I would have never thought this a couple weeks ago but my early pick has to be NHL 13. I coulda cared less about this game not to long ago.The last few years the series has felt in a rut and when I heard the commentary wasn't changing again I was sure it would feel like been there done that like it has the last few iterations. Forget about the awesome new skating mechanics or the other solid gameplay improvements the true broadcast camera steals the show for me. It's made the game feel brand new. Even the commentary doesn't bother me anymore(I still hope it changes next year). I couldn't go back to the north south camera view now.

I'm super stoked for nba 2k13 and MLB the show was in my ps3 longer this year than ever before but I have to say that 13 being the best NHL I've ever played has to get the nod.

For me it would have to be MLB 12 The Show. How can people think it is NBA 2k when it's not even out yet?

NHL 13 is gonna have the same problems that nba 2k had, with the lockout fans will not be able to get any roster updates until that ends. I played NHL 13 on league pass, and it was a great game, a tough break from EA on this one

Look at a sports game that best emulates its sport than look no further than The Show. This year's crop of sports games are the best, top to bottom, that we have been able to enjoy in years. Not a big NBA fan but 2K looks great, NHL 13 is ridiculously awesome and Madden has been a blast to play (for me) for the first time in years.

This has to be one of the best races ever. However, The Show is just too incredible not to get the nod it deserves.

Too early to tell until feedback comes from NBA 2K13 gamers & reviewers, but going with either 2K13 or NHL. At first, thought maybe Madden might have a shot, but it's getting quite a bit of negative feedback on the new CCM and the lack of player editing or playing with multiple teams in a season -- let alone those annoying glitches in the new tacking system.
