Six Greatest Sports Game Soundtracks of All Time

There have been many memorable soundtracks in sports games over the years. Some of them worked because of their great variety and notable title tracks, and others complemented the gameplay in an organic way, demonstrating that the developers had chosen the songs with great care.

It's hard to narrow it down to just a few soundtracks over the years as being the greatest of the bunch, but here are my pick's for the best six soundtracks for sports games in the modern era of sports gaming.

Oh man, that Sweep The Leg song used to ALWAYS get stuck in my head when I played MLB 08 The Show. Some of the PS2-era Maddens had good soundtracks (03-05).

I think fight night champion and NBA 2K12 was very solid as well.

Nice analysis

Can I add a dishonorable mention? NHL 09-- that "We are the Warrior" song was catchy, in the most horrible, fingernails-against-blackboard, kinda way.

Not sure how MVP Baseball doesn't make the cut, thinking it was the 2004 soundtrack that cranked the hardest.

Good article I only played two of those games but if I were to make my own top 5 it would be:

5. Madden 04
4. MVP Baseball 05
3. NBA Live 04
2. NBA Street Vol 2
1. NCAA Football 06

MVP 05 and NCAA 06 would definitely be two of mine. I actually went on iTunes and grabbed most of the songs from NCAA 06.

Well, this is about the goofiest article I have ever seen. Why would you consider a bunch of songs that were previously released thrown together to be a great soundtrack? That's not a soundtrack. That's a K-Tel late night infomercial. Try Front Page Sports: Baseball Pro '98. There's TONS of original songs on there. Same goes for Front Page Sports: Football. Hell, we used those songs for a decade at the radio station for promos and opening and closing billboards and lots of other things. Gobs of ORIGINAL material. Why does this generation come up with NOTHING original? Unending movie sequels, unending game sequels, unending "iPhone 4s" HAHAHA .. wha? So, I guess to kids, that is what passes as a "soundtrack". Games are art. And that means music too. Man, this is pitiful. Just pathetic.
