2009 Season Playoffs: Divisional Round

Divisional Round

And now, a word from the commish:

It was a fun first week of the postseason, with only one real surprise in the Seattle/Dallas game. Now it gets REALLY fun...the divisional round. These 8 teams have been the cream of the crop this season and now they all get a chance to show it here in the 2nd week of the playoffs.

Wild Card Round Results

1234OTT
Patriots
BoSox247
7090016
Ravens
Millennium
0307010

We wish Coach Millennium and his family well as they're going through a family illness at the moment that caused him to be unavailable to play this game. Longhorn and I talked and decided the best course of action was to allow the game to be simmed, so that's what we did. New England pulls it out, 16-10 to move on.

1234OTT
Bengals
elTodd
21777042
Texans
JohnnytheSkin
01366025

It got ugly early for Johnny's Texans as they were blown out at home by a tough and gritty Bengals squad.

1234OTT
Seahawks
jwoodlock
107010027
Cowboys
SteveOS
14370024

Here's the shocker of the Wild Card Round as the Seahawks go into Jerry World and come away with a nice comeback victory, scoring 10 points in the 4th quarter to erase a 24-17 deficit. Can Seattle's luck continue? Are they this year's Arizona Cardinals?

1234OTT
Panthers
Ch33k0
14121014050
Bears
AltimusZero
77722043

This was one of those games I wish I could've actually watched. Chicago looked to be dead in the water late in this one but made a game of it before losing, thanks to a Jonathan Stewart KO return late in the ballgame.

Divisional Round Schedule

1234OTT
Patriots (12-4)
BoSox247
------
Raiders (15-1)
Ragehawk
------

Terry and the Raiders get tested right out of the gates here in the postseason with a visit from Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Raider Nation has not forgotten the Tuck Rule game and will likely be rocking the Oakland Coliseum for this one.

1234OTT
Seahawks (11-5)
jwoodlock
------
49ers (13-3)
DookieMowf
------

Two division rivals go at it for the right to play for the NFC Championship. These two teams split in the regular season, making this all the more interesting.

1234OTT
Bengals (12-4)
elTodd
------
Bills (13-3)
TJdaSportsGuy
------

Two of the more overachieving teams in the league go at it here in Orchard Park as the Bills host the Bengals. Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco will be on the same field, likely causing both starting QB's headaches if they feel they're not getting the ball enough. I don't think that'll be a problem though for Cincinnati, as Ochocinco has been making his opponents "kiss the baby" all year. Child please!

1234OTT
Panthers (12-4)
Ch33k0
------
Falcons (12-4)
Holic OS
------

The home team won both matchups between these two teams in the regular season, and the race for the division title went down to the final week. That's why the Georgia Dome gets to host this ballgame that should be damn entertaining.

Let's get these games in as quickly as possible, fellas. Good luck to everyone in the Divisional Round!

Acid - When can you go? I might be able to go tonight after 8pm central time, if not, how does the rest of the week/weekend look for you?

Tomorrow may or not be good. I'll try to be around and we'll try to set something up. Tonight after 10 or 11 is good as well

Don't think I can make it tonight. If I can it'd be around 9:30 or so. Can't go much later.

We'll get it done in the next night or so I'm sure.

Acid PM'ed me after his win over Dallas with the following:

Hey dude, ****ty timing but my house is getting tented for termites tomorrow. So I'm going to be out of the house until Saturday afternoon. So the earliest I can get my next playoff game in would be Sat/Sun. Hopefully that's cool with everyone.

Terry -

Tomorrow night works best. If we can't get it in then (or even tonight), it'll have to wait until Sunday.

First play of the game, Michael Turner broke loose for a 73 yard TD run. Delhomme threw an interception on the very next drive and the Falcons jumped out to an early 10-0 lead. Panthers marched down the field and made it 10-7 after a 3 yard run from DeAngelo Williams. In the 2nd quarter, Jonathan Stewart had 3 TD scores on a total of 3 yards. Roddy White had a miracle catch between 2 Panthers defenders for a TD as well. Rhys Lloyd hit a 50 yard FG early in the 4th quarter to make it 31-24. Michael Turner scored his 3rd rushing TD of the game with 2:37 left in the game to tie it up. With DeAngelo Williams out of the game with a hip flexor suffered early in the 2nd half, Jonathan Stewart took the team on his back and made key play after key play to make it down the field to set up the game winning FG as time ran out.

Passing
-------
Delhomme (CAR): 16/26, 198 yards, 2 INT
Ryan (ATL): 12/16, 97 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

Really good game man. I said at half, whoever had the ball last would win. I gave you too much time after I took the lead.

Good luck in the championship game.

Sounds like a great game.

The weekend is fine, TJ. I'll shoot Acid a PM and set up something for the weekend. Saturday night the wife is heading out with friends for dinner, so that would be perfect.
