Venom's sliders...

Amazing...Made a few of my own tweaks, but wow...The CPU is so much better defensively...While the D men could hold the blue line a little better, the sticks are so active...You can go around stickhandling your way into a defense...I was trying to do that with Gaborik vs the Bruins and he turned the puck over at least 5 times in that game.

Amazing is right.. I have to give it to Venom, he has a knack for sliders. This game is totally different now.. in a very good way. I am floored on how well these play out. Awesome

Re: Venom's sliders...

Game plays pretty well with them; makes the game worth playing.

A little too easy to skate past the AI and skate right up the ice, but the play in the offensive zones for both teams if very good.

I know I enjoyed his reading about the skating being real too. I don't know much about skating, but it does look like what I watch on TV.

I'm blown away by these, seriously. This slider set really brings the game up a huge step for me, and reading his rant about the skating was a great precursor to checking these out as you can really see what he's trying to say in action.

I'm still thinking 10 is the better game, but these sliders are definitely helping even things up for me. Anyone about to sell/trade in this game needs to give this set a shot first!

Re: Venom's sliders...

Are all you guys using the suggested 10 minute periods?

I've been using 6 minute periods with these sliders and still having difficulty scoring? Maybe I'm just bad at the game, I don't know.

I was just about to come on here and say the same thing. I've been using 8 minute periods but I don't think it matters. It just seems incredibly difficult for both the human and cpu to score in all my games with these sliders. This is soccer hockey. Just about every game I play is 1-0. I've even had some games go 0-0 into the shootout and then go like 12 rounds in the shootout with no goals before somebody finally pops one. I'm glad to see it's not just me. Like I said though, I'm loving every other aspect of these sliders.

What would be the best thing to do to help this out? Raise shot accuracy? Lower goalie effectiveness? A combo of both? And by how much?

Re: Venom's sliders...

Yeah, I definitely need to make some adjustments. I just got done playing another game with these but with 10 minute periods. I was Carolina and played against Edmonton. I lost 1-0. Shots were realistic...I forgot the total exactly, but both teams were in the mid to upper 20s. I don't have any worries playing aggressive and taking chances with my defensemen in the offensive zone because I have no fear at all of the CPU breakaway. They had probably 5 or 6 of them against me but I wasn't worried a bit because they are no threat to score. The one goal they did get was a garbage rebound goal. Like I said, I love everything about these sliders except for the fact that scoring is too hard on both sides.

Re: Venom's sliders...

I've been using 10 minute periods and haven't had a problem. The last 3 games have been 4-2, 3-1 and 5-1 - lost the first two and won the last one.

Just tweak things to your liking, personally I just think this is the best base set of sliders out there at the moment. The CPU shots were a bit high for me so I toned down their shot frequency or whatever it's called and problem solved..
