I think that a new consideration needs to be global editing, and it might be considered lop-sided, is to bolster D-men's speed/acceleration, because to keep them on the same plane as the FWDs, they can tend to be like pylons and no set of sliders seems to counteract this. There's way too many breakaways when playing vs the cpu as well.

I agree. I tinker with ratings of players (mostly goalies) and was thinking similarly. The issue is how to boost the d speed and not use them to fly around the ice. Honor system I guess.

I wonder if just acceleration would work? My newest slider set seems to help speed of the backwards skate but only because of eliminating speed burst. Vs the cpu, I tend to get about 8 breakaways a game, some of which I still skate behind the net or dump for the sake of the game.

Let's get our heads together on this one and do some testing. Nice idea Dafly! I can dig it.

Re: Fiddy14/TSOLEliot NHL 2K10 Roster Update Thread...

thing is, we dont want to global edit anything in this base set so to speak. reason, some guys may not like it, heck we may not like it after we do it and find out something else works. if it was easy to change everyone's ratings globally then it wouldn't be a problem.

for example, DJ's global edits, great work by him.. but its not for me, i dont like how the game moves and feels. something is off for "me".

what can we do to make some global edits matter, but not make the game feel a ton different?

Brian mentioned to me in an email about bumping the d's endurance for top 4 d-men really high, keep them on the ice more. stuff like that? or what are you guys thinking?

Re: Fiddy14/TSOLEliot NHL 2K10 Roster Update Thread...

I'm about 50% done with the NHL rosters...then I want to adjust the players that are most likely going to be called up from the AHL during the season.

I'm making global edits to player styles (i.e. finesse has better hand-eye, agility, creativity, power forward slower and shovels in the garbage, etc.
It's pretty neat to see the playmakers hold the puck longer and move around guys a little more.

The complete d-men are now the highest rated players in the game with the rare exception of superstars (apparently the Pens have a couple that are pretty good- Dustin Jeffrey and Warren Peters)

I like the idea of boosting the top 4 d-men's endurance to keep them on the ice more. Interesting idea.

That being said, there are still breakaways- I noticed that when I change my styles that happens more which makes sense that if you're pinching in you're probably going to eventually get burned.

Very much looking forward to this update. I find that playing without speed burst also helps in lowering breakaways but not totally. Let's do some testing boys!

TS, was going to invite you to a Team Up game tonight, my 3 buddies and I were looking for a 5th when you signed on but we had already played 4 games and my buddies daughter wouldn't go to bed so he had to go. Next time.

I really wish there was SOME WAY to get the new rosters for Team Up.

I think testing with global edits, since you're only doing 2 teams is easy enough. I'll have to play with it when there is time. Somewhat motivated to do this since I seriously doubt I'm shelling out any cash for any other hockey game in the forseeable future.

I know this is out of place so excuse me. Got this great game for the PS3 am planning on getting an Xbox and picking up that NHL 2K10 version. Couple questions. Will I need to buy a sub to XBox Live to get the patch for the game? Coming from the PS3 if there is a newer version of the game it pops when you logon. Does the XBox work the same way?

Secondly can someone point me to a thread that explains how I can use/load the modifications to the game you guys have made?

As far as subscriptions to xbox live go. I believe a silver (free) xbl account will get you access to all patches. When you load up the game the system will say there is an update and will be logged out of xbox live blah blah blah, just say download and you'll be good.

For rosters (you will need xbl gold - not free, or you'll have to use a transfer kit to load the newest rosters from TS and Fiddy with the player and goalie edits). Which they put NUMEROUS HOURS into making to keep this game alive, without these cats, and other community inputs, offerings and time, we'd probably fizzled (and Kai and any other contributors of PS3, SHAME ON ME, SORRY, SAVOIE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MENTIONED HERE!!!!)

Sliders, you can check the slider section of this forum but best bet for quantity is on 2khockey.net as everyone has a different idea of what they want, you'll have dozens of varieties of sliders (shogunofharlem, daflyboys, fiddy, hdtv sliders (by dj neo), original 6, venom, 10th St V.5, if I left anyone out I apologize, all great sets above).

Play a few games with each with the new rosters and you'll be amazed.

In the meantime check out my youtube channel to see the new rosters, goalie edits with my shogunofharlem3 variation sliders.

Also get a case of beer and enjoy these videos by DJ Neo. They are amazing. http://www.youtube.com/user/2khockeytv

Welcome to 2k10. Best crew in town!

Re: Fiddy14/TSOLEliot NHL 2K10 Roster Update Thread...

I just tried a game with D men tweak up for speed and acceleration on both sides of the puck. With speed burst down to 1 and skating around 65 (along with ice friction down low so ultra tight turns can't be done), it turned out to be a pretty effective combination. The D men's tweaks (along with early bump ups for D awareness and poke checking) did not make them seem over the top at all, but instead, seemed to help in many situations and reduce breakaways and break throughs in situations where it shouldn't happen. I can see that 2K is classifying some situations as breakaways where maybe they are odd-man rushes, but not breakaways.

Overall, I'm liking the D tweaks.
