Buffalo Sabres owner will possibly buy the Bills :-)
That's not surprising. There's been stories about Jim Kelly teaming up with Golisano to buy the Bills. I don't know if they'll have the funds to match the unholy alliance that is Rogers Communications and Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment. I sure do hope the Bills stay in Buffalo because as i've said before I would have some regret and sadness for taking away such a great franchise from the city of Buffalo.

A letter from Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, was sent Friday to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The proposal asks league owner to change the constitution to allow individuals to purchase stock and maintain voting rights in a franchise.
Higgins envisions a model similar to that of the Green Bay Packers, who currently operate under such a structure that was grandfathered into league ownership guidelines. Buffalo and Green Bay are among two of the NFL's smallest markets.
"The Bills are a regional treasure and part of the fabric of our community," Higgins said. "Community ownership in the Bills would give the Buffalo fans that built this franchise a real role in steering the future of this team."
That future is uncertain as the Bills are now planning to play a series of games in Toronto beginning in the 2008 season. Ralph Wilson, founder and owner of the franchise, has said playing a select number of games in the much larger and wealthier Toronto market would help sustain the Bills in Buffalo.
At the same time the 89-year old Wilson, who has vowed not to move the team but has said it will be sold after his death, has pointed out Buffalo's shrinking population and economic difficulties. The latter comments have raised concerns in Western New York -- the Bills home since 1960 -- that the Toronto plan will eventually lead the team to be moved out of Buffalo.
I don't know about anyone else but I'd spend a whole paycheck on Buffalo Bills stock. I don't know why this hasn't been brought up before.

I hope it would be a worldwide IPO or however they'd do it. I'd love to own a piece of the Bills even if it's just a piece of paper.

I wonder if buying Bills' stock would also get you a piece of the Dolphins, considering they've owned the Fish the last few years... :-)[Reply]

Well just remember the 'Phins owned us for over a decade. Things can turn around very quickly.

This article is over a week old but I spotted it when I was looking to see if the Bills made any cuts. I know this is just the offseason thread but this kind of stuff should also be pointed out because it involves our favourite team.
A couple years ago he successfully battled Burkitt's lymphoma but now is facing a more serious battle against Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Ferguson is before my (and probably most of the OS Bills faction here) time but I have a DVD of the game where he and the Bills won for the first time in Miami in 20 years. He was a pretty good QB a middle of the pack Bills team. In fact, all or most of the records Jim Kelly broke were Ferguson's.
So we should take a moment to at least wish him luck in this battle against Leukemia.
