Any bets on whether or not Moreno makes the team? His lingering injury is definitely not helping his cause.

I could really see him being moved via trade. Nothing major maybe a 7th round pick if a team loses a running back to injury in camp.

If that doesn't pan out I can see them just cutting him.

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

I did hear that he took some reps with the first team today. I have waited and waited for that guy to turn into what he was drafted to be, but it just hasn't happened. If he makes the team, he's going to see spot duty at best behind McGahee and Hillman. The funny thing is, I think he'd do well catching passes out of the backfield from Manning. I just don't know if there will be room on the roster for a guy who has consistently under-performed, has injury issues every year, and has had off-field issues.

I agree...a trade would be nice. I believe he has a year left on his rookie contract. I can honestly say that I wouldn't miss him if he was gone. Based on his past production and history, I don't think the Broncos would either.

I initially assumed him to be gone but after thinking about it a little more I believe he will get his last chance in Denver this year.

I think the Broncos want to make it work with him because of what the organization spent on him (much like with Ayers) but at this point the leash is short.

At this point I don't think Moreno even has a leash. They are directly holding him by the collar waiting to let go.

Just don't see him making the final roster. Which wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

It's really hard to say. Hillman will be the change-of-pace back. I don't know what Moreno's role would be other than just a back-up RB. Do they really want to spend that much money for a 3rd string back? Maybe the cap penalties are such that it just makes more sense to keep him rather than cut him. Trade him...

If I had to put money on whether or not he would make the team, I don't know which way I'd go. Where he was drafted and what he was expected to become plays a role, but I honestly don't think he's going to just explode in year four. RB's have a short shelf-life, and he's already spent his prime years.

Maybe...

He's got to have a very strong showing in preseason or I think he's gone.

If you could see into the future and predict McGhee being the work horse and staying healthy. With Hillman as the change of pace back. Then really Moreno is nothing but roster depth.

But you can't guarantee McGhee's health so it may not be a bad idea to keep Moreno around if there are no trade options.

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

As compared to the last few years, it so refreshing to read the Post and hear about how Mannning is just so dominant. I can't wait to hear how he does in the scrimmage on Saturday. He'll carve up the 2's. I like to see him go against the 1's in the scrimmage.

Hopefully the time that Decker has to sit out will help get DT and Manning going as well.

Any word on how DT's looking so far (fantasy football interest)?

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

So long as Moreno can stay healthy, I see him being used as a RB on passing downs or as the change-of-pace back in case something happens to Hillman.

As I've illustrated in the past, Moreno is great in open space. He's like Reggie Bush in that regard. His problem is simply durability. The moment he goes down with a decent injury, I expect an injury settlement to come from it. At this point, nobody is going to trade for him knowing what kind of health he's had.
