Re: Donnie Avery

Looks like I created a hit thread. YAY!!!

How would you guys utilize him? As a 60 yard bomb-speed rusher? Or a quick route, 20 yard agility/tight end catcher?

Re: Donnie Avery

slants crosses posts and deep routes. Later in his career he'll do well on the rest of them. but the injury concerns are real. he can be fragile, especially if you "let" him get injured in that first preseason after his draft(goes for most players really).

Just remember, an injury prone player is not a bad thing. Especially not at wr or any other position with multiple capable backups in future drafts. Its when you get a guy you need to rely on that gets injured when you should worry about releasing or trading someone. You need injured players to get skill points for your trainer! He needs to heal them then he gets points for his skills and special skills chart.

Re: Donnie Avery

I had a lot of success with Avery in the slot when I inherited him in Baltimore. He's a great returner and also useful as a deep threat, as he can just outrun most CBs, although you'll probably need a rocket arm QB to make the most use of that. So essentially, he's kind of a swiss army knife; he fits some roles well and he is useful, but you would also like to packing heat.

However, if I had to draft him, I would not, I'd rather have

Re: Donnie Avery

I acquired Avery via trade in my previous career with the Jets. Used him as a slot receiver for my Run&Shoot offense. Performed very well, especially getting open over the middle and created a lot of mismatches when teams didn't use a nickel or dime defensive package. Most safeties/ nickel defensive backs couldn't keep up with him in man coverage.

Special teams wise, he was a better kick returner than punt returner.

Re: Donnie Avery

I Drafted Avery in the 4th Round and he topped out at 93. Ran Six(6) Kickoff Returns Back for TD's. In the line-up with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wade, and Devin Hester who I got in a Trade with Chicago for next to nothing. These guys run up and down the field scoring lots of points. I plai 11 Minute Quarters and still score 60 to 70 Points with Indianapolis.
Peyton Manning is Good, and my Back-up Andre Woodson is Like Vick should be in this game. He Runs Hard, Fast and for 50-70 Yards a game. I drafted Woodson in the 3rd Round in the First Year.

Re: Donnie Avery

bblack, you know it takes longer to play an 11 min quarter game than a 15 minute quarter game right? If you change the minutes, it turns off the clock accelerator/runoff after plays. If you like playing a longer game, thats cool, just making sure you know this.
