Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

Week 11 Evaluation

A win is a win, but this game really exposed my offense. I think I am a creature of habit too much. I am going to work on the Play Calling skill for my OC and let him call some of the plays and see if that helps. There is no reason that game should have been that close.

The Bad...pretty much the whole offense the 2nd Half. I gained 47 yards. James came in for as Myers got tired and he gained an awful 3 yards on 4 carries. Scott was 16 for 28 and threw too many passes into the ground. So once again...I am going to the drawing board with the offense.

The Good....the defense played well. The new play I added helped stop them on 3rd and long. But they were able to convert on me the 2nd Half. So I need to add more plays to help with 2nd and 3rd and long. Myers did well getting 65 yards. So I think that switch is permanent. The Defense pretty much contained Young so I am pleased about that.

But I will continue to work on this team. There are areas of weakness and I need to fix them before they get exploited to badly.

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

I always let the oc pick the first play of EVERY drive...
but after that play, I Start using unlearned plays on first and 2nd down(as often as possible). Sometimes I use learned plays on 2nd and 3rd down. 3rd down is usually a mastered play I havent used in that situation(0% or 1% play call). If I need a 4th down conversion, I ONLY USED MASTERED PLAYS, and I go off success score(as close to 100% as possible).

This will allow you to diversify your attack and ease off the money plays your team has mastered already. If You keep using the same plays over and over, the defense will expect them and stop them. Thats why you're getting shut down in the 2nd half. They make adjustments to stop your most frequent plays and you keep calling them.

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

Thanks for the advice on the play calling. I always get gun shy about calling plays that are not mastered...but that makes sense so they have the chance to start learning them. I will try that with my next game.

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

Week 12 Nov 21, 2010 vs Kansas City

The game started with a thud as the Chiefs took the opening drive 80 yards utilizing short passes to the RBs that is ended with a 4 yard TD pass to WR Bowe. Raiders 0, Chiefs 0.

The Raiders respond with Scott finding Bellows for a 28 yard pass, Lucas for a 23 yarder and the drive ending with a 7 yard strike to TE Jennings. Raiders 7, Chiefs 7.

The Raiders force the Chiefs QB Chad Pennington to force a throw and it went into the hands of SS Craig Steltz. He returned it to the Chiefs 27, but the Raiders offense was stuck in reverse so Janikowski came on and send the FG attempt wide right from 43 yards out.

The Raiders force a 3 and out, but QB Scott is feeling generous so he tosses the ball to Chiefs Safety Chris Hope. The Chiefs are unable to move the ball and are forced to punt. The Raiders drive the ball and FB Rpyor carries it in for a 4 yard TD run. Raiders 14, Chiefs 7.

The Chiefs start the next drive on the 20 and once again Pennington finds SS Steltz and the Raiders look to add to their lead before the half but are unable to move the ball. So the score is 14-7 at the half.

The Raiders receive the opening kick of the 2nd half and Scott is promptly sacked. But he redeems himself throwing a bullet to WR McKinley and another to WR Lucas setting up a 1st and Goal at the 1 foot line. Scott calls his own number and the Raiders extend their lead. Raiders 21, Chiefs 7.

The Raiders defense is once again stifling as the Chiefs are forced to punt. Bellows finds a seam along the left side and returns it 30 yards. But once again the Raiders offense struggles and Janikowski is forced to kick a 40 yard FG. Raiders 24, Chiefs 7.

The Raiders defense once again stops the Chiefs and the Raiders get the ball back. The running game has fallen apart so the Raiders start the RB rotation. They move the ball down to a 1st and Goal at the 8 and FB Pryor runs untouched up the middle for the score, but hold on...there is laundry on the field. Holding, TE Zach Miller, so now the Raiders face a 1st and Goal from the 18. Scott shows his poise though as he waits for WR Bellows to slip between the coverage and Scott hits him for the 18 yard TD. Raiders 31, Chiefs 7.

The Chiefs start their next drive on the 19 and Pennington is feeling left out of the TDs so he throws a perfect pass to Raiders CB Deangelo Hall and he races towards the end zone for the score. Raiders 38, Chiefs 7.

As the game is winding down the Raiders continue to work on their running game. After 6 running plays in a row, the offense tries a play-action pass. But Scott wants to spread the love around so he throws the pass to Chiefs CB Randal Gay and he takes off for a 77 yard pick 6. Raiders 38, Chiefs 14.

That is the way the game will end as the Raiders eat up the rest of the clock.

So the Raiders will now face the Jacksonville Jaguars as the only undefeated team in the league since TB lost to the Browns.

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

Week 12 Evaluation

I am trying some of the suggestions I am getting...thanks btw for those...and things are going okay. I get frustrated with the team though because it never fails that if I call a play they have not mastered something puts me in a deep hole. But right now we have been lucky to get out of them. Having a strong defense helps.

The bad...dropped passes!! WE had 6...Lucas had 4! I am still working on the running game. So I am trying to be patient with it. I had 0...no penalties the 1st half, but the 2nd, 4 for 43 yards. Finally...3rd down conversions...3 of 9. That will not be able to continue.

The good...the defense once again is the strength of this team by a long shot. My DBs can be some real ball hogs. I hope they continue doing that. All in all not a bad place to be at this point in the season.

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

If it seems like the qb is hitting the wrs and they're just dropping the ball, work with wr. If it seems like the qb is throwing high or wide or into coverage, work with qb. If your qb doesnt have enough time work on pass blocking or work with ol.

Gameplanning is as much getting ready for the next team as it is fixing problems with your team. Just make sure you dont try to fix something against a team thats strong against that. IE your outside run game isnt working but you're versing a cover 2 team, DONT TRY TO GAMEPLAN IT. However, if your inside running game isnt working right and you verse a cover 2 team, YOU DEFINITELY GAMEPLAN IT.

If they keep showing the same 5 plays being worked on(especially when choosing any work with offensive player other than rb), improve standard shotgun, quick, or playaction plays. That will help you learn more than just the 5 best plays you'd learn if you did a work with offensive player(other than rb) or focus on catching or pass blocking.

If even those show the same 5 plays after a couple times, you need to get more unlearned and learned plays used in certain sets. If standard pass plays are eating up the d one game, focus on unlearned and learned STANDARD PASS plays. Then in the next week or two try to improve them through gameplans(improve standard pass plays). You should have changed at least one of the plays you are practicing if you got any good yardage(or a td) out of one of those unlearned plays.

This applies to all types of plays. IE If you have shotgun working in one game, choose unlearned and learned shotgun plays, if inside run is working, choose unlearned and learned inside runs.

Also if you chose to improve shotgun plays one week, try to use a bunch of unlearned or learned shotgun pass plays because your qb and wrs will learn them faster. Again, this goes for all types of plays. Anything you try to improve should be a focal point in your attack(on offense and defense).

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

I am soo friggin ticked off!! I finally make it to the end of the school year and am ready to sit down for some hard-nosed football and my *&^#%$ game file is corrupted!!!

I have tried everything I know to I know to load it and it gets part way through and then hangs up..."FILE CORRUPTED!!!"

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

I just spent 3-4 hours reading your dynasty.
And I was excited to finally come to the final page and give you a lot of feedback/ thanks.

My heart dropped when I read that your file isn't able to load.
I've never had a file that was corrupted that I ever recovered...

I had all these notes on what to give you feedback on, but oh well.

Are you starting up a new dynasty? And do you play Madden/ NCAA?

Either way you need to make another thread like this for the summer.
Plenty of extra time, kind of like a fresh start.
Might I suggest the Lions? Bring the franchise to glory.
Or my favorite team... the Bucs!

Great read though! Thanks for the entertainment!
And I'm confused as to why I don't have this game.
I didnt get an XBOX 360 till 2009, and didnt get on OS till early 2010. It fell through the cracks. I knew it was there but read so many bad reviews I was turned off of it. But it looks like, what you put in is what you get out.
Just purchased on Amazon for $6.97

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

I was thinking of doing a dynasty on these forums but I'm going to two different camps over summer vacation so I'd be gone for 2 weeks.

Re: Rebuilding the Raiders

Thanks for all of the feedback. I am still trying to get this one to load and..well...maybe it is wishful thinking but it seems like it goes a little longer each time I try. I wont give up on it yet, but I am not going to hold my breath on it either.

Summer break starts this week and I will have some time to play for at least a couple of months until school starts again.

I have actually started a new thread on here with my beloved Browns. So I am going to see how that goes. I also play NCAA, I have madden but dont play it that much.

I hope all of you follow the new thread and keep the advice coming!!
