Vikings Franchise ....a new era..(Season 2)

As the Vikings sat and watched the Eagles beat the Colts in the Superbowl, we new there was a lot of work to do in the off season. I wanted my long time Viks to be a force in the league, and losing my frist playoff game is not what I had in mind. This Thread picks up from my first season. So hope once again I hope you enjoy. Lets meet the staff, as I have a couple of new hires. The numbers are new and old rating.

D. Bevell - Off Cord - 27 rating (20)
L. Fraizier - Def Cord - 47 rating (38)
S. Kwan - Special Tm - 30 rating (new hire - old 20)
K. Rodgers - QBC - 43 rating (32)
E. Bieniemy - RBC - 57 rating (45)
J. Sullivan - WRC - 57 rating (new hire - old 13)
P. Morris - OLC - 88 rating (77)
F. Pagae - LBC - 44 rating (34)
J. Lynn - DBC - 44 rating (new hire - 16)
K. Dunbar - DLC - 65 rating (53)
R. Spielberg - GM - 79 rating (77)
R. Wyman - Trainer - 99 rating (new hire - 14 old)

As you can see the most improvement is the Trainer as I had a major upgrade in this position. This is a must in this game, and hopefully I will do better with the injuries.

Also, our new WR Coach - J. Sullivan, and DBC - J. Lynn, will help in these areas as well. Most of the staff improved by about 10 pts this year over last year with 13 wins.

I wanted to fire our Off Cord, but I would have took a major hit from the owners approval, as he wanted to keep him.

Current approval ratings is 67.

Nice. Can't wait to see where you go in FA and draft.

Re: Vikings Franchise ....a new era..(Season 2)

Vikings made a couple of trades to beef up next years draft.

Traded WR S. Rice to Denver for a 2010 4th rd pick. Rice just droped too many balls as well as his playbook knowlege just wasn't getting it done. He only caught 36 passes last year for 673 yds and 5 TDs.

Traded SS D. Sharper to Houston for 2009 3rd rd pick and 2010 1st rd pick. I could not pass up on this, as I have SS Russell. Sharper placed ok for me, but age is catching up. Last year he had 35 tackles and only 1 int.

COULD VIKS HAVE GOTTEN A BETTER DRAFT:

Vikings HC D. Horne attended his first draft, and was looking to get at least one starter and did just that with their #1 pick, and traded next years to get another late 1st round pick.

Rd 1 - ROLB - M. Wright:

Rd 5 - DT - D. Lewis:

Rd 6 - WR - D. Dotson: (CUT)
Rd 7 - WR - B. McClain: (CUT)
Rd 7 - HB - C. Clemons: (CUT)

Did not make any good choices in the late rounds. It was either late, and me not paying attention, or I just drafted bad their. However, I did get two that are going to start.

Did you sign any big name FA's?

I have the English draft path...so no help from you...but you had a good draft. I like the Sharper trade.

Biggest is TE Watson. Hopefully he gets more involved than the guys from last year.

Re: Vikings Franchise ....a new era..(Season 2)

PRESEASON: WEEK 1

VS

ST PAUL, MINN: Vikings came into this game wanting to prove that they are a better team this year. Early on, it did not look good as the Viks found themself down 7 - 0, as the Broncos took command behind the arm of J. Cutler. Viks could not get anything going and again watched as Cutler again lead the Broncos for another score. Finally the Viks got things going 80 yds to cut the score to 14 - 7. Viks get a turnover, and waste no time to make it 14 all at the half.

The Viks took a look at the new QB - N. Wyoming, and the kid looked good, driving the Viks down for a go ahead TD. The Broncos could not get anything going with Cutler taking the rest of the day off. The young QB once again drove the Viks for a score to make it 28 - 14. Denver close out the scoring as the Viks rookie did make a mistake giving up a late int to set up a score.

Re: Vikings Franchise ....a new era..(Season 2)

UNEXPECTED POSITION BATTLE IN VIKS CAMP

Vikings annouched today that there is not clear started at the QB position. The coaching staff is very impressed with the progress rookie QB N. Wyoming has played. T. Jackson (23 TD/10 Int) is being pushed for the starting job.

On paper the two very close. Wyoming does tend to stay in the pocket and takes the sack, while Jackson tends to scramble. The rookie has a little more power on his throws to get the ball to the receiver faster. However, sometimes he does force the ball. Jackson need to make better decisions on his passes, sometimes over looking the easy dump off.
