A lot of PMs about the stats engine so today I ran a five season sim test and blogged some numbers-- this was PRE roster update so take that FWIW.

For the most part, it's pretty good. I think the QB numbers are the ones to watch, though.

Josh, do sliders affect the sim engine or just the played games?

There are a ton of factors that can affect a QB's play, so it is easy to understand why EA has a hard time tuning them. However, the real problem is the range of the QBs' stats. It isn't like they are all doing well or all doing poorly, they are all over the place, and vary a lot from season to season. The main problem with this is that a simple slider adjustment cannot solve the problem, for QB's anyway. The WR problem could possibly be solved by adjusting the WR catch slider.

Just a question - with a long-term test like that, how do you keep from getting fired?

The stats are based on ratings and the team's system.

If Mike Martz takes over as the off. coordinator of the Steelers tomorrow, they will throw the ball like the Rams used to.

I don't know but for the hour and a half that I played the game last night, I enjoyed it. I think it's highly detailed and with tons of potential. I only WISH that Madden's Franchise mode was this deep. Man the trade negotiations, the contract negotiations, the player progression etc...is just phenomenal! I can't wait to get some more time in with it.

Re: Bill Abner's first Head Coach Impressions

I have to say "What a Game".

I just picked up the game myself and man is it deep. Right off the bat i had (2) trade offers that i completed. The offers came from two cpu teams.

Josh and the gang, nice work guys.
