Re: Bill Abner's first Head Coach Impressions

Hey guys,

I'm about to start the Browns/Dallas game and it's September and it's snowing in Cleveland. I think the Weather Channel is busted.

Re: Bill Abner's first Head Coach Impressions

Been playing the Dallas game multiple times to test out a few things.

One item that is starting to become a constant thorn is fumbles. I played the Dallas game 2 1/2 times tonight and in every game I fumbled at least 4 times. Jamal Lewis had 3 fumbles in game 3 and I think I was about 6:00 to go in the 3rd -- just too tired to finish it. (I think Jamal had 4 for the entire season last year)

Could this be a fatigue issue that is causing this? I do tend to work Lewis like a dog, but it's not likle he's hitting the 30 carry mark, either. Any ideas? Is this just random bad luck? Will sliders affect this at all? I had the fumble issue in my Jets preseason game when I had 5, but the Bears game was fine, as was the Giants game. They tend to come in bunches. Also, Dallas isn't fumbling like I am so I wonder if it's something I'm doing.

And man, Romo is one tough guy to stop! He is shredding my secondary like they're...well, the Browns.

Bill, is it possible the snow is causing more fumbles? Or was the snow for one game only.

That was just one game. Pretty funny, though.

Wow.... snow in Sept. in Cleveland? (Guess global cooling is for real)! I wonder if it could be a combo of Fatigue, Weather, and the play knowledge? I know Jamal is a vet, but did you notice if he fumbled on unlearned plays?

Overall, love what I have read about the game so far. I can not wait til Tuesday to get my hands on this game! It is unreal how much feedback the development team has contributed for everyone on this game, simply awesome job!

Also being from rural Northwestern Ohio I can tell you how boring it is Bill! Go Bucks and Browns!!!!! Think I am going to run w/ the Phins, I really want a serious challenge!

I'd be interested in hearing more about the fumbling issue. Have you tried other backs? If it's happening in several games, obviously it's not the snow. Do the players in HC have a rating similar to the 'carry' rating in Madden? Maybe Jamal Lewis just fumbles a whole lot? I wonder if players have a 'confidence' type rating that isn't shown. Maybe once he fumbles once, he loses confidence. Or maybe defenses go for the strip?

Whatever the reason, I'd be interested in hearing from a dev on this. Did they notice a rash of fumbles? I'd assume they didn't, or it would have been changed.

So was the snow an error, a la was it snowing on campus before the game? or was it a fluke glitch where it just gave you the wrong weather conditions?

Yes, and Lewis has a 93 Carry and a 60-something Catch, but his fumbles were all on runs. I was also thinking it was a confidence thing. I didn't sit him, but after the second one maybe I should have.

No, it wasn't an error. The campus was snow covered.

I'm going to run McFadden to death tomorrow and see if I have the same fumble results, Bill.

It was snowing in October during the World Series in the 90's. Not the same thing, I realize. Just throwing that out there...
