Re: Bill Abner's first Head Coach Impressions

The regular season starts tonight! Preseason is in the books. I had an undrafted rookie make the squad with a 75 rating no less.

Josh -- quick question:

When playing defense and the AI goes hurry up, can I change my play at the line or can I only make "adjustments" like line shifts and calls for a DB press? Is there a way to call a defensive audible?

Unfortunately, you can only make adjustments. We should have handled hurry up better than we did.

I don't know how it's handled but how much influence should the coach have in the hurry. He might be able to send in a signal from the sidelines. But this could be where your defensive captian's awareness and leadership kicks in. A defensive leader could make the proper adjustments.

I've been debating canceling my reservation of CE until this thread. Thanks Bill, you've helped me look forward to pro football gaming again.

To Josh--- with Donny going over to Madden to do franchise mode, will you have any role in Madden 2010? Tuning gameplay perhaps:P

Just gotta say all this EA love has gotta stop . Just kidding, I'm really happy to say that there are so many things to do in this game. At first it bugged me I could only do 15 years. Then after seeing the amount of time to do stuff in this game, I am extremely happy its only 15 years. This game is shaping up great and is making me extremely excited to play a different type of game. Just wanna say thanks for what appears to be such a great game.

Bill, can you update us on how the running game is doing? Are teams running for realistic yards?

Good god, I know I'm not getting any sleep when I go to the midnight release. I have to have it asap. I'm sure the Dev guys love hearing something like this. Has to bring a smile to their faces. Because they've been playing it for however long the dev cycle is. Those lucky ba$tards.

Yeah, I don't see the problem with fifteen years everybody seems to have. Fifteen years is much, much longer than the average length of a head coaching career. In the crazy fantasy world I'm going to create in my head for this, my coach will have already spent a number of years as an assistant or maybe a college head coach.
