Actually not bad at all. Real-life Bears drafted a offensive tackle in Round 1, and here they pick up a guard. And they actually drafted Forte in real-life, also in round 2. Some help in the secondary and on the defensive line fits right in with what the Bears would do. A little unsure about 3 receivers to finish it out, but our receiving corps aren't all that great to begin with, so it's not that much of an oddity.

All in all, I love the way this is sounding. Thanks for the Bears recap and all your impressions.

I posted my reaction to Bill's reaction at GameStooge, and I'm starting to get excited, myself.

The draft sounds amazing. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game. I got the CE because of this game only. Madden will not even get a sniff of play.

You do know that the standalone version of NFL Head Coach comes out early September, right?

I don't want to spend extra money on something I don't want.

Funny how NFL Head Coach 09 is sounding promising (3 year development) while Madden and NCAA are both dreck (6 month dev turnaround).

Fancy that.

That is a very good point. Of course I could counter that with Brady playing 8 years to Manning's 4, so the need is a bit greater...but I get your point, and we're sorta splitting hairs. I think on the whole the draft AI is pretty darn solid and just because it made moves I wouldn't have made certainly doesn't mean it's bad. How many times has our NFL team of choice done something in the draft that made you do a double take? Even the stuff that struck me as odd at first...none of it comes off as broken AI.

There's a big difference between debating whether or not the Cowboys taking back to back running backs is a bad move and watching the Colts take a QB in the first and 2nd rounds ala Madden.

The undrafted rookie mode allows you to sign three players and invite them to camp, but other teams have a chance to also "bid" for these players. It's pretty slick. I'm past that part and moving onto the next phase. Tomorrow I should have a lot of time with the game, so I'll run through the rest of the post draft off season stuff.

Thanks again for all your impressions, Bill. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make it another week...

Great.. There are those of us that feel it's worth the extra money to not have to wait.

Fancy that.

I am seriosuly considering heading to Ohio, putting a USC sized beating on Bill and taking his copy of HC 09.

Good looking out Bill. Thanks for the impressions as usual.
