I don't disagree, or think its a bad thing. I just want to make sure I understand correctly.

I really hope this game is good. Its really becoming my last hope for a good football video game. APF 2k8 stunk, NCAA 2008 stunk, 2009 stinks and Madden didn't even have a working franchise mode.

Its getting to the point that I just want a game that isn't broken. APF, broken (LB play was horrific). Madden/NCAA was a pick fest. This year they just took defense out in NCAA.

If I can just get a challenging game without any major flaws I'd be happy at this point.

I'm right with you, Sven. I'm really praying this game plays like it looks.

Actually, I just found out I can update team philosophies in the roster download too. (Sweet!)

I'm going back through them and making sure we weren't off on any of them.

So does this mean the 09 draft choices can be updated for each team?

The players can be updated. Not the picks. I think I can update coaches (and their skills), philosophies, depth charts and rosters.

That's too bad, but I'm not worried. Especially since I won't use those teams anyways. I'm gonna draft some gems either way and kick some names and take some a**!

Wait. Reverse that.

Re: Gameplay Lead Programmer Q&A Session

Hey I got a couple requests for next yr version can you guys do what 2k does and have roster shares so that way we dont have to get some stupid kit to share most companys at some point stop updating rosters eather for time constraints or lack of support I would so love to be able to share rosters because to be honest some outside people make a more accurate level roster. and for us to be able to share cant be a big deal since the file size is very small.
second in game saves I dont know why this has not been added
ther are so many times I have to go or get busy and with the next gen systems if you play on a hot day it would be nice to be able to play and save it at any point without having to risk a freeze.
thirdly I would like to be able to play online leagues franchise online and the ability to share the franchise file so that all in your league have same roster file. Really I think that would be a huge selling point as well please dont make it injury free that to me is cheese I dont care how fast I can play a whole season I want realisim thanks in advance.

Re: Lead Designer Q&A Session

Josh let me start by saying THANK YOU for all of your hard work. It seems that this may finally be the Football game I have been waiting for all of my life. I won't give away my age, but let's just say my first experience with Football video games was XOR's old NFL Challenge.

Anyway, my question is kind of of the wall...
If I'm going to continue my alter ego fantasy that I have created over the years in my Madden life, then it would only make sense that I start my coaching experience with the Redskins. In Madden I am always the starting QB for the Skins.
My question is this...In some of the screen shots I saw that you have to pick your coach's personality (Commander, Superstar, Promoter), I'm wondering how this affects my abilities. If I am a retired Hall of Fame QB for the Skins, then it would only make sense to have the "superstar" personality, but to me that implies that I may be egotistical, or self centered. It may turn players off. What good can come out of this personality trait?

Re: Gameplay Lead Programmer Q&A Session

Do the rookies, particularly the rookie QBs, tend to struggle in their first year?

While there is no code to explicitly hold down rookies in NFL Head Coach 09, they certainly won't be as good as their 'potential' until further along in their career. This goes for all positions, not just QBs.

The nice thing about coaching skills though is that players receive the benefits immediately, regardless of how far along through their career they are.

My recommendation: If you are taking a chance on a rookie player who has a tremendous amount of upside, try purchasing a few coaching skills related to their position to alleviate some of the risk. Then, when that player does begin to mature he will be that much better.

Hope that helps!
