In addition to the two you listed there are Overhead, Defense, Press Box, and On Field.

Bingo! The teams are constantly monitoring what plays work well in certain situations and modifying their play call strategies to accomodate this. This information is also presented to you at the play call screen, as well as the View Playbook screen when you are not in game. One big step we took this year was that the success and tendency information lives for the life of the career, so, by year 6 you should be able to see a pretty clear picture of your teams strengths.

You'll be able to Ask Coach from the play call screen which is similiar to the Ask Madden and Ask Corso functionality from Madden and NCAA. Our Ask Coach AI takes into account situation, what has worked before, as well as several other factors to determine the right call.

Re: Lead Designer Q&A Session

I know the game is suppose to be all about the Head Coach but I was wondering if there were any plans for the future to make a career mode where you enter the league at the bottom rung of the coaching ladder(position coach, etc.) & work your way up to head coach.

Sorry, the only off field issues we did were the Game Changer injuries.

There are other Game Changers however that deal with players such as suddenly deciding to retire or veterans deciding to come out of retirement for one more year.

Re: Gameplay Lead Programmer Q&A Session

Hey Chris, thanks for taking a moment to speak with us!

I read in one of the previews that calling plays via headset did not make it into the game this year, my question is will there be any conversations going on in the headset in terms of in-game suggestions or tips on playcalling from my coordinators/players?

Thanks.

I'll take these. No and No. Not this year.

We talked about something like that. I think if we approached it intelligently and designed it so that every level is just as much fun as the next, then a mode like that would be pretty sweet.

Normal week you get three. On thanksgiving week or Monday night week, you'll obviously get less. Bye weeks will give you 6.

Re: Lead Designer Q&A Session

Here's another one from me...yeah, yeah, I can hear you groaning from this side of the Atlantic....;-)

Schedules - is the 2008 schedule (pre & regular season) incorporated into the first year? Also, how do you work out subsequent season scheduling, is it totally random or do we have a schedule based upon the strength of your previous season?

Thanks

2008 schedule is indeed in the game. Future schedules have special logic that incorporates team strength and the rules that the NFL uses each year.

Re: Lead Designer Q&A Session

Spot on Josh - that's fantastic...no groan either! ha ha...thanks for all of this, appreciated.

One more I've just thought of relating to injuries. A common bug on some other titles has been in relation to cpu players getting injured and being removed from the lineup - quite correct...the bug has been once they are fit the cpu forgets to put them back in the lineup - I just wanted to make sure that you guys have the bases covered with that one.

Rookies - as time goes on do these new, created players have photos or are they a blank silohuette? If not, has EA thought about using facegen technology (can be found in Out of the Park Baseball) which will create a random face for each new player?

Are waivers included?

When you start a career is your overall rating based upon that real life coach/organisation or do you start each time with a set default number?

Thanks
Mark
