Any New Slider Post Patch Updates?

My experience so far is that the gameplay is just a little off... would be great if the sliders could balance it a bit. CPU defense awareness/penetration on running plays is too strong. Human DBs seem a little dumb... highly rated safeties should be able to read/react better. Run blocking should be better (or maybe it's the too-strong defensive awareness on runs?). Pass blocking should be worse or the defense's rush should be better.

Re: Any New Slider Post Patch Updates?

I've been working on this. Seems like there really are some settings that can dramatically improve the game play and make it more of a challenge (this is for live play, I'm not concerned with simming).

I'll post my full set when I'm done. All settings are same for CPU and User.

First, the QBs play too well at the default. Turn the QB Accuracy down to 40. You could try lower but I find that even good QBs get DUMB in a hurry at less than 40. It appears to me that QB Accuracy effects more than just pass accuracy. It effects the QBs awareness/reaction/judgment too.

WR Catch has to come down too. 15 is working well for me. At 15, good receivers still catch the ball well, but you'll have a few drops just like in reality. If the defense lays a big hit on the receiver, you'll see more realistic drops there too. If you go lower than 15, the drops just get silly.

Take Defense Awareness down to ~25 to slow down the super-human speed and reaction that the CPU often gets against running plays. This needs more experimenting, but 25 is working well for me. It doesn't take as much away from the defense as you would think. Combined with the lower QB and WR numbers the defense still plays well.

In connection with the lower defense awareness, put Interceptions on 55, Knock Downs on 55 and Pass Block on 40. This gives a little back to the secondary, adds a better pass rush and a couple of pass knock downs.

Pass Interference needs to be up a little, around 55.

Run Block needs to go up, not sure how much yet.

Jweaks:

It's helpful if you show atleast 5 to 8 game stats with your sliders. It allows the user of your sliders to judge better. Also put the players ratings next to his name.

Hope this helps.

I doubt I will have time, we'll see.

It's actually quite complicated... the other factors like "play knowledge" and the quality of the coaches have a factor in it. An "imbalance" might just be that your coaches stink and your players don't know the plays. I'm leaning toward created plays... it would probably be more worthwhile to take a "B" quality team and play them with their own playbooks in order to figure out the sliders.

Re: Any New Slider Post Patch Updates?

I think....the sliders are well....useless. Not because they don't work, but because like you said....there are too many things affecting gameplay. Playbook knowledge, Coaching imput, different playbooks. These are 3 hugh things that affect the outcome of your team.

I was thinking if you had all your coachs maxed, playbook knowledge maxed....then you could get a true feel with the sliders. The games as is, change from game to game with coachs improvements, and playbooks being masterd. There is just no way to get a true feel of the sliders.

Re: Any New Slider Post Patch Updates?

I wouldn't say they are useless, but the factors that effect a game are significant.

Given two teams of roughly equal players and coaching and with their "known" playbooks I still think the QBs and WRs are too "hot," the run/pass blocking is unbalanced, the pass rush is erratic and sometimes the RBs go insane. I'm still encouraged by the settings I described above... and really enoying the game.

Re: Any New Slider Post Patch Updates?

Here are the sliders I have settled in on and I find the game a ton of fun and quite realistic. (Be aware: If you have bad players, bad coaches, or you're running unlearned plays, your team will stink and your opponents will look awesome no matter the slider settings.)

CPU and USER are the same. Settings not mentioned are 50/50.

Offense:
QB Accuracy: 45
WR Catching: 15-20 (You have to deal with the fact that there will be some drops at this setting, even easy passes sometimes, just like in the real world.)
RB Ability: 45
Pass Blocking: 40
Run Blocking: 60

Defense:
Def Awareness: 25
Knock Downs: 55
Interceptions: 52

Special Teams:
FG Power: 65
FG Accuracy: 35
Punt Power: 45
Punt Accuracy: 40
Kick Off Power: 45

Penalties:
Offsides: 55
False Start: 55
Face Mask: 40
Def Pass Interference: 55
Intentional Grounding: 55 (I've never seen this called.)
Roughing the passer: 55

Re: Any New Slider Post Patch Updates?

Why did you lower the punt power and accuracy? I'm not the only one that has complained about this but my punter only averages 30 yards when I actually play the games. He also shanks 3 of 5 punts causing them to only go about 20-25 yards.

Re: Any New Slider Post Patch Updates?

I have been using the prior sliders you reported. The problem I am finding is that long passes complete for a higher percentage than short passes. I have been looking for causes, but the catching skills of the respective targets is not the cause.

I was settling on 60 for run blocking change as well.

As far as FG%, with Sebastian Janikowski, I can make long ones with about the same % as short ones. Adding power would just result in 75 yard FG attempts making as often as 30, albeit a lower percentage than now.

It's funny, but my kicker K. Brown is 14 of 21 on FG and i have it set at default. My opponent last night missed (2) FG also playing against me.
