Gamespot NCAA 13 Review (Harsh)

Gamespot actually gave it a pretty good review. A 6.5/10, actually harsher than OS's review.

Opening paragraph:


In real life, sports are a merciless competition in which only the strong survive. Punishment is swift and severe for teams that languish, so there is a constant push to make huge improvements from one season to the next. Virtual sports are very different. The NCAA Football franchise has been lagging for years, shoving the same basic content out the door without any major changes to keep things fresh. Its lack of evolution goes against everything professional sports have been built upon. And NCAA Football 13 continues this unfortunate trend. Although the gridiron action is solid, dull off-field activities and crushing familiarity make this another tired entry in the stuck-in-the-mud franchise.

Don't much care for reviews...I mean I like it a lot...and that's all that matters.

I usually don't care when the non-sport game reviewers review a sports game, but I'm actually glad NCAA is finally getting some mediocre ratings. The ratings for the series has been generally positive this gen, even though most actual fans of the series disagree.

Maybe mediocre ratings across the board can inspire some change from EA. Right now NCAA 13 has a 75 on metacritic. NCAA 12 had a 82. NCAA 11 had a 86. NCAA 10 had a 83.

Obviously, the game critics were overrating these games. Fwiw, the user rated averages for those games on metacritic are 7.3 for 11, 5.7 for 12, and 5.9 for 13.

I'm glad to see they are telling it like it is. A lot of the time sites like Gamespot and IGN will go easy on these games and give them a better rating than they deserve but there is nothing he said in that opening paragraph that isn't true.

Yes the review was accurate, but im having a blast playing it even with all the frustrating and disapointing things the video mentioned. I am glad I made my purchase!

Exactly. I don't care what Os or any other website gives it. If I enjoy it, it's a good game to me. And according to the poll here, 80% think its either average, good, or great. I trust the users more.

Bravo! I only read the opening paragraph you posted, but I have to give it to Gamespot for calling them out. I don't feel I'm bashing the game, developers, or EA by agreeing with what they said...because I believe it is a FACT that this series has not evolved or progressed to the extent of what should be expected. Got to give kudos to a company for boldly stating as much. I'm guessing it probably isn't as easy for them, to throw specific games, or companies like EA, etc. under the bus...when there are industry relationships and the perception of "comradery" involved.
