Instead of numerical ratings, what about football ratings? Actual 40 times, bench press, vertical, times from position drills, etc. Numbers in these type of catagories, if they could be programmed, might make for a better playing experience on the field.

Personally, I think the numerical ratings EA has used over the years have never had any real effect during a game. The ratings are a great way to manage your depth chart and figure out which recruit to go after, but beyond that I haven't seen where they make much of an impact during a game.

I fail to see the difference between a 95 spd rating and a 4.36 speed rating! How will this improve the on-field affect of ratings?

that's what real coaches use at combines. i think it really makes you evaluate your players. we all want preseason to mean something, well, this is one way. with the numbers, i feel we get too wrapped up in them. and we start wondering why "if my WR's catch rating is??, then why isn't he performing up to par?". if this were the case in real life, he just wouldn't play.

Well what does a speed rating of "95" actually mean? I don't think anyone knows. Other than his speed is 95/100, but that still does not mean anything when your talking football. 95 out of 100 what? I think if EA could program what is needed to simulate a 4.36 40 yard dash time, or any other related skill, we would see a vast difference in the individual players in the game. I think the problem with the gameplay is too many player and too many positions play alike. There is no distinction between the skills of the different positions. Yeah some players may move down field faster than others, but other than that each position plays about the same.

My point is there is a scale in which they rate players. Example 4.24-4.26=99 ,4.27-4.30=98 ,4.31-4.34=97 so on and so forth. The numbers is just there to simplify.

That's the point. In the real life combines, the stopwatch aint gonna read "95", its gonna say 0:00:4'36" (or somethin like that). its all about more realism.

When they count reps they count the number they do. Think about it, if a lineman has a 99 or 100 strength, he is pretty much the strongest man in college football. if he did 45 reps, and an incoming freshman does 47, will that freshman get a 101 or 102 rating? He did more reps...

I think the rating scale is 99 out of 99.
