The Week 1 Sales Numbers Are In.....

Week 1 - NCAA 10 360/PS3 Sales = 399,876 units = $23,992,560.00

Week 1 - NCAA 09 360/PS3 Sales = 451,290 units = $27,077,400.00

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg...me3=&weeks=100

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg...game3=&weeks=2

NCAA 10 Week 1 sales = -11.40% (-$3,084,840.00) from NCAA 09 Week 1 Sales

This is a continuing decline of sales from the series' peak in the 04/05 days.

EA's consumers are speaking, the question is, does anyone at EA/Tiburon hear it?

2 things can be happening............ either the gamers are actually getting fed up with EA or our economy is getting much worse. I personally think its the latter.

That would be a rational explanation IF this was a single year phenomenon. However, sales have gone down EVERY YEAR since 06 or 07 (I'd need to double check when the "trend" began).

If I compared the Week 1 numbers from the 04/05 game to 10 it would likely be down nearly 40% in terms of units/games sold.

The "bad economy" doesn't explain away why 09 sales were less than 08 sales which were less than 07 sales etc.....

Well I'm one who passed after playing it at a friends house and had nothing to do with the economy. I had been a day one buyer of NCAA for atleast 7 years.

But for the majority of the world I can see the economy as a reason sales are down.

Re: The Week 1 Sales Numbers Are In.....

And Im one that thinks the economy has nothing at all to do with it.

As NCAA has aged, so has its fans that grew up with the game. Ive been a day 1 supporter of this game since the Bill Walsh days up until recently.

$50 is nothing when it can come to months of entertainment. I spend almost that just to take my family to Applebees for dinner one time.

I have put my money where my mouth is. There are a ton of top rate quality titles out to choose from now, and Im not going to waste it on a football game that releases broken and outdated.

4 of us went to get the game at WalMart on release night...the only difference was, only 1 was going to buy it

Everyone came back to my place since I have a 160inch screen to play for the evening. After giving the game about 10 complete games, 3 of us were glad we didnt buy the game, and the other guy has sold it already.

Typically, we all 4 would have bought the game.

Economy has nothing to do with lackluster sales.

Re: The Week 1 Sales Numbers Are In.....

You also have to consider all the systems sold in the past year have increased the install base, so a much smaller % of console owners are buying the game. In 2009 alone there have been 4 million PS3s and 360s sold (each) so the 11% decline of sales is much worse when you consider that there are probably 12 million next-gen systems in households than there were this time last year.

The economy might have something to do with it, but I think it has more to do with the fact there have been some bugs that are game killers for a lot of folks on the next gen systems. The game's sales rankings are slipping, so the sales are down compared to other games as well.

I've had the same experiences with friends who have been over to play my copy. Any of the programmers that I know that have played this game laugh out loud 3-4 times per game at the bugs that pop up. One fine example last night was when I buried a guy at the 2 or 3 with a punt out of bounds and they called it a touchback. 2nd time that happened in consecutive games.

Its stuff like this that make people buy something else with their 60 bucks. It reaches a tipping point.

I'm waiting to sell until after patch 2 is released, if offline dynasty isn't fixed.

Just out of curiosity, how are sales for the PS2 & PSP doing compared to last year?
