Why Not Develop on The PS3?

A lot of times we hear the reason some things are left out are due to memory limitations. If memories such an issue, why not just develop the game on the PS3? If The Show is any indication of the amount of content you can jam into a sports title, why not develop on the PS3, compress it, and put it on 2 disk for the 360?

if memory was the limitation then the PS3 wouldn't be much better(probably worse).

BTW, memory doesn't = disc space. memory is system memory(RAM).

don't think disc space was an issue for NCAA 10, but it'll likely be something they'll have to work around for 11 and beyond(guessing from what the devs have said).

Not true. They can push 10 gigs of commentary into The Show, use multiple gigs of memory into single levels on Killzone, dedicate multitudes of memory into the cinematic aspects of MGS4, etc. It's obvious you can jam more data into Blu Ray, why not develop on the Ps3?

They wouldn't have to work around disk space if they'd just develop the game on the PS3.

Well, RAM is a reason but how about that people wouldn't want a 2 disk sports game and the 360 version sells better. And the Ps3 doesn't have gigs of RAM, it has less than the 360. They get around it somewhat by having large installs when you first load the game.

once again memory does not = disc space. i never said Blu-ray couldn't hold more data than DVD. I know it can hold more.

and how would developing on the PS3 fix the disc space issue on the 360? they will never make 2 separate games for the PS3/360. they'll likely keep developing the game on the majority system that sells more for their games, which right now is the 360.

I'm not talking about the internal memory of the systems. The developers haven't had problems with the internal memory of the system, they have problems with disk space.

BTW, what in the world does the 360 version selling better have to do with anything? It'd still come out on both systems.

Because 360 owners wouldn't want a 2 disc game and you don't' crap on the group buying more of your games.

I'm not talking about internal memory.

It wouldn't be two seperate games. They'd simply develop the game on the PS3 and port it over, compress it, and throw it on two disk for the 360. Same game.

I still don't understand what install base has to do with which system the game is developed on? If one system is capable of producing a better product than what we're getting now, then why not change which system it's developed on?

I'm sure 360 owners, myself included, wouldn't be offended if EA put NCAA on 2 disk if doing so would produce a better game. It has nothing to do with "crapping" on anyone.
