Are you still living in 2007...the ps3 does not have less ram than the 360...the ps3 ram is split between the cpu (cell) and the gpu (rsx)...the cell controls where the ram is allocated so if it has to it can use all of its allocated ram...also the cell use a new ram tach that is faster and less taxing on the system...seriously if ram was a problem how do you explain all of the visually enhanced exclusives...

To the op...this would be a great idea...but you know MS will not let that happen...

but when the review is all good then you guys want to post the reviews and say that they are getting great reviews...

Go ask the guy who reviewed the show for OS....he gave it a 9.5

ask him if he feels that way today...he even mentioned it that the more he played the more bad he saw

the game is very good but farrrrrrr from the best sports game ever

it will be that when you are allowed to play defense on your own and collision detection is above garbage

but let's get back on topic....
I wanted to chime in on this post.

Let me preface by saying this, I am not qualifying myself as an expert, but rather I'm sayign i've been around games for a long time.

I witnessed EA's very first sports games in the 80s, I was captivated, it was unlike anything I'd ever seen. I loved them. I've followed their games for over 20+ years, i've seen the good and the bad. I can tell ya, MLB:09 is the most detailed, and engrossing "baseball" game i've ever played. If EA put the detail in NCAA football games the same waythat SCEA did in MLB09......wow, the possibilties.

I currently play MLB09, and have since release, it is amazing. They (EA) need to take notes.

As a side note, I mentioned this topic in another thread a few days ago. I am not a programmer, but common sense says 1 BD = 6 DVDs. Please enlighten me.

I'd rather not dump another $400 on getting another system when I already have one that works perfectly. The only reason I would even think about getting a PS3 is for The Show, but other than that I have no desire for the system.

And developing it on the PS3 won't make any difference. Disk space is not what's holding the developers back because they made good games last-gen with less disk space.

Re: Why Not Develop on The PS3?

Again, it's not necessarily the space on the disc that gives devs trouble. It's system RAM.

Edit: let's say you are installing a game on your computer. You have 100 gigs of hard drive space and 1 gig of ram. The game only takes 8 gigs of your hard drive space, but it requires 1.5 gigs of ram. So, the space constraint doesn't matter. For a lot of devs, they can spare a gig
or 2 on the disc, but some of what they want to do might require 1 gig of ram. So, you compromise.

Re: Why Not Develop on The PS3?

So you guys are saying that they could put something out like the Show for the 360? No. Its been said by Adam himself that The show has 7 GB of commentary alone. Adam said NCAA only has 2 GB. 2 GB is half a DVD. Most people on here complain about stale commentary, well there you go. Its also been said The Show has probably the best commentary. Obviously if they can have more space, they can do more stuff, and that is just commentary. Adam said another thing that takes up a lot of space is art. Could you imagine 10 GBs of art? I'm sure NCAA is 1.5 GB or so of art.

You guys are overthinking this develop on the PS3 thing. People need to stop bring up hardware, this isn't about hardware, this is about disk space.

Re: Why Not Develop on The PS3?

How many different ways can people say it? If all you care about is commentary, then yes, disc space is an issue. If you care about anything else, like how the game plays on the field, system ram and developer effort/focus are numbers 1 a and b to making a good game. Again, just look at the NBA series. The devs have focused on things other than the game representing real NBA game, so their game is 3rd behind 2 360 dev'd games. Disc space doesn't matter when it comes to game quality. Do you know how much disc space Mario brothers took up?

Again, mediocrity IS easier to produce than quality. That's a given, but if I'm going to continue investing money in EA I'd like them to do whatever is in there power to produce a solid game. Obviously, there are current limitations that are keeping them from delievering the said experience.

Although I'd advise you get past your bias, I understand you love your 360. You may not own a PS3 so you may be missing out on some of the stellar games it's able to produce. Just get them both, you may be able to have a more objective opinion.
try again...I own both as the reason you see on my profile the icon for both systesm...with the screen names...

I am not blown away with the ps3...I play my 360 a lot more and all 3rd party games i buy only on 360

I have the show and kill zone for the ps3 and watch blu rays...

no game on ps3 has made me want to sell my 360

disk space does not equal better game...unless you think the commentary is what is holding back ncaa and madden from greatness...

Re: Why Not Develop on The PS3?

Maybe a little off topic but..I have both at my house and I really only play ps3, this isn't because I don't like the 360, I just can't stand the bulky controllers, I feel the PS3 controllers feel more natural and seamless when playing games...

Its funny how that goes. I actually prefer the 360 controller (minus the crappy D pad) and wish i could use it on my ps3.

works perfectly? Tell that to all the 360 owners that get that red ring. I had a 360, got that red ring a few times. I ended up selling my 360, got a ps3, and i am yet to have 1 single problem with my ps3.
