What I DON'T WANT in NCAA 2010

I own a PS3 and I love the thing. Yet, this generation of football games are on the brink of unforgivable in their horridness. LOL.

I may buy the next system that comes along, as I bought the 60GB PS3 a few months after launch, but I wont buy a football game for it until I see proof of it being decent.

As you stated, EA has made a product WORSE than previous generations. WORSE, MUCH WORSE. That does not make sense.

I also plan on owning my PS3 (or a PS3) until around 2014 or so. The system is designed to have a long shelf life so I'll try to squeeze all I can out of it. It just hurts that I cant play a decent football game this gen because EA lacks a clue as to how to make one.

I honestly think EA knows HOW to do it...they just won't do it because they have some silly marketing plan to stretch this game out over several years. So just add a little dab here and there...not too much though....then add a little more next year. Whereas on PS2 they actually slammed seemingly all they could into each edition of the game.

I think last gen had better and more robust games because for the better part of last gen there was a competitor in the market. EA had to make the best game possible in order to keep sales. Now, for some unknown reason, they have exclusivity. Clearly, the product has suffered for it.

You really hit the nail on the head when it comes to their obvious strategy in this gen. Give them whatever crap we threw together and each year add one or two VERY MINOR additions so we can have something to put on the box. More often than not, those additions hinder the game more than they help it.

You really got the idea that EA used the last gen systems to the max when it came to their football games. I never really thought how I do now, that being that the game is so far below what the system is capable of. The PS2/Xbox were well coded for and EA seemed to do the best they could in most cases. Things werent perfect but I can accept that in a videogame. Plus, with things like the pregame shown in your link, you got the sense and feel that you were in a college football game. The atmosphere was pretty good for what those last gen systems were capable of.

Now, PS3/360 owners basically have supercomputers capable of 30-50x what the PS2/xbox was capable of and we somehow have a worse game with less features and stability. LMAO....its sad.

How EA still keeps sales in this gen is a mystery to me!?! Its like trading in a Ford Mustang for a Ford Pinto.

1. Stop showing me the crowd EVERY TIME I get a sack or tackle for loss! First of all, I hate the waste of time. Second, it's always the same four guys making the same stupid motions!

2. Every time I go for the strip and miss, it should not end up being a 15 yard face mask penalty!

5. If I'm sacking a QB, and he throws the ball into the ground or into an OL, call the intentional grounding or illegal touching!

6. Include players stats from previous seasons when a dynasty begins. I know they can't use the players names, but it wouldn't take much effort to include their stats. For example, in real life, if a Senior QB needs 30 TD passes to break the career record, include his stats so he only needs 30 in the game to break the record! He shouldn't start the dynasty with 0!!!!

How about the challenges? The fumbles that could have been called down by Ray Charles or the ones that have no business being reviewed. Either take the challenges out or give them some variety like runners stepping out of bounds, breaking the plane of the goal line, etc. Oh, and the two feet in bounds animation that happens five yards from the sideline also needs to go.

Forgot about this, and if it's been posted sorry, but late hits need to be called. If I'm running and take 2 steps out of bounds and the defender hits my guy, throw the flag. It really annoys me because it always makes my quarterback tired and then he isn't worth a damn. Either not let them hit the quarterback or throw a flag once in a while.

I feel much the same way you do Stoncold.

Although I do play other games than Madden/NCAA...but they were the main reason I raced out to buy a Next gen system. If I had to use just one word to describe this current gen of football games to this point...that word would be, disappointing. The progress that has been made after 3 and 4 years respectfully, has been painfully slow. I don't blame the game developers for my disappointments. They can only make do with the resources their given.

Like you...I've learned a valuable lesson. I imagine this cycle will repeat itself when the next, "Next gen" systems drop. I have no plans on spending several hundreds of dollars again to go backwards in every area of the games, with the only exception being graphics.

The panoramic shots seem to me as just EA saying look at our pretty stadiums and thats about it. The look great and that it they do not add to the atmosphere of the game. Make me feel like I'm playing in front of 100,000 people. I also think if EA paid all this $$ for ESPN they should incorperate it more into the presentation it's like buying a Corvette and never take it out for a drive, why do you have it then? My main missing item is create a school the Southeastern Michigan Green Devils need to rise again!!!!

I'm beginning to think that the ESPN/Madden thread should be stickied because we have gone over this about 100 times already.
