Quarter length vs. number of plays in simmed games?

In trying to determine the best quarter length to use for OD, I started doing my annual research into the number of plays from scrimmage during a NCAA football game. I started thinking though, what's even more important in this, in regards to the infamous "realism", is how a particular quarter length will stack up when compared to games that are simmed in dynasty; more specifically an average across an entire season.

I haven't had a chance to sim a dynasty season to look at these #'s but has anyone else? I'd love to hear details? Otherwise, I will try and find time this weekend.

If you could play 6:30, then that would be as close as you can get.

Go for 6 minutes to get accurate defensive stats.
Go for 7 minutes to get accurate offensive stats.

There is no perfect balance in this game since the sim engine is so much different statistically from the game engine.
