Recruiting Suggestions for 1* Program?

I am just beginning a dynasty with Temple (1* program).

Any suggestions for filling my board / weekly recruiting?

Should I only bother looking at players who have me in their Top10?

Do I even have any chance at getting other players to Temple?

Stick with local (PA / NJ / NY) kids?

My pre-season board is mostly 2* players (there are two 3* on there).

I am new to this - any help would be great.

Thanks!

After the first couple of weeks, look for 3 and 4 star players who nobody has offered scholarships to yet.

Re: Recruiting Suggestions for 1* Program?

Still looking for more advice ...

I have noticed that nearly every player that has any interest in my 1* school is listed as a C, C-, D+, or D in their OVR. Will these players translate into anything that can actually help my team improve?

Also - do you have an opinion on the AWR stat? I think it is important for me to get guys with high AWR because the CPU controls so many of the players ... and it seems like the CPU is CONSTANTLY making bad decisions.

Does having a high AWR help? I feel like it is especially important for offensive lineman.

Re: Recruiting Suggestions for 1* Program?

Ive coached many 1* programs, and the keys to success for me was to get a large recruiting class your first and second years as coach. Even if they are 2* & 3* prospects. I make it a rule to never target more than 16 players at once. I target the kids I need first and after I get hard commits from 1 or 2 i'll replace them more recruits that i'm pretty sure that I can land. In the off season see if there are any prospects out there that were just passed up and give them a scholarship, chances are they might commit. Players progression will make a lot of these kids good quality starters there Junior and Senior years.

I also suggest scheduling a "cupcake" schedule your first couple of years, no body wants to come to a team that goes 3-9 or 4-8.

Re: Recruiting Suggestions for 1* Program?

I should not have 35 prospects on my pre-season board?

What is the advantage / disadvantage of filling this board?

The CPU tells me that my "needs" are MLB(2) and C(1).

Should I only go after those two positions?

What if there are decent (2*) guys at other positions that he me in their Top10?

Yeah, I would never fill all 35 prospects. Like I said I only allow 16 at first(my needs) then after a few commit I add more prospects I want.

Your "needs" are the positions that are not completely filled. If you only have 1 HB on your team the CPU is going to tell you that you need 2 more HB's.

Make sure you target at least 2 MLB's and a CB if those are your only needs. I would personally target 2 CB's and 3 MLB's, because theres always that chance that one of those recruits will commit to another school. Then you can go after whatever else you want.

The less prospects you target the more time you will be able to actually call the prospects you need.

Re: Recruiting Suggestions for 1* Program?

I have a recruiting question, is it better to have recruiting assistance on or off? and why?

Re: Recruiting Suggestions for 1* Program?

Is there any negative associated with having 35 players on my recruiting board but not spending minutes on all of them? What if I have some players there just to keep an eye on?

I know that I should concentrate my efforts on "need" guys or players that seem too good to be true.

I am still in the pre-season stage before the first game in my first dynasty ... I just spent a block of time milling through "prospect search" trying to find 35 players to put on my board.

I have 5 guys at MLB (need = 2) and 3 guys at C (need = 1).

The other 35-8 = 27 guys are a mix of players who have me listed in their Top10.

Is this a mistake? How?

Well I turn if OFF, because I find all the prospects that I think will be best in my system. Ive never really used it so I cant say if its beneficial or not.
